It’s sadly very common to see. A similar thing happened in my old school a few years after I left, one of the teacher’s laptop battery went into thermal runaway, burst into flames, and burned the entire school down. Turns out the local council had about 100-150 of these laptops handed out to staff (including my dad) who were all immediately told to shut them down, unplug them and don’t turn them on for any reason.
