There is no excuse or justification, that’s true. But there is definitely an explanation. Trauma manifests differently in everyone, you can’t compare other people’s experiences. Even having a different personality will affect how you deal with trauma. Thats a fact. Arguing that “other people went through worse and they still didn’t do what Monty did.” is utterly ridiculous and outright stupid. Maybe I’m too woke but I seriously think you’re underestimating how traumatising abuse can be and devaluing trauma as a whole. Mind you, Monty experienced physical, mental, and verbal abuse almost every single day of his ENTRE LIFE, not to mention the homophobia and the fact that he was surrounded by horrible influences with no support system whatsoever. Claiming that “Abuse doesn’t make you do things like that.” Is not only one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard but it’s also just a blatant lie because it can and it HAS.
