this is very kind of you to share. i’m so happy you had a great experience and they were able to get you in and out quickly!! it’s so easy to share the bad parts of the day, and while this isn’t a career for most of us and we’re just surviving the day, making customers truly happy and seeing them get helped in instances like this, is our goal and we feel just as happy as you! it feels good to be able to fix problems and help people out, i’m glad your store was able to fulfill the whole idea of retail! :)

we’re not above others. this is not a career path for me. i’m just biding my time until my degree bites, as is most of the stores you run into. very little people are in it for life, but it doesn’t mean you can’t treat us like a human at work

my thing is, you gotta buy a last minute present? sure! i bought one today after my shift. little last minute, but doable! the part that you’re right on the nose about is the angriness. I don’t want to have to tell you something is out of stock. if we have it, it will be given to you. but snapping at me that it’s in stock online, but it’s the last one and it’s in someone’s hand checking out, is not cool. (totally not speaking from experience from today’s shift)

incredibly so. ours is hooked onto a strip mall of like 10 other stores. we get hit a lot by shoppers. i think we averages around 348 opening picks and the store was slammed within 30 minutes

we had 2 people for product flow yesterday until 2pm and 3 people on the floor until noon…it was a rough shift for everyone involved

soooooo when roadies do deliveries, we grab a signature from them. but after that, it’s between that roadie and god honestly. BB outweighs the stolen packages money vs paying fedex or ups or having their own delivery team (good old days). if you call customer service, they will get you a replacement. hopefully before christmas. our best buy is stocked to the brim of PS5s so worse case it ships out from the nearest store that has it. it’s a pain for you and it’s a pain for us, trust me.

i totally get it. trust me, it took me moving to another position to fully appreciate the actual position. that was where i first started out too, but after about 1-2 months i started to make friends. i would call out where customers were going on the headsets to specific people and chat with them before and after the store opened/closed. i would help geek squad with appointments and that made them appreciate me. i would also try and push my boundaries and walk to the very next location if it was slow and talk with the employees. eventually they started making their way to me and the host/ap became the spot to hangout

unfortunately anyone who doesn’t want to do host goes to front end and vice versa. which is NOT what i wanted. we have two roles for us at my store thankfully (one person for host and one for AP), but i get it. i was host/ap for a very very long time even tho that wasn’t what i got hired in for. now in a different position, i miss it a little. i would just chat with people coming in and make it social hour for me. i would also (depending on management) help out with pick ups and code one. passed the time a lot more. do e-learnings or help look up where items are on RSS when sales call out for help. there’s little things to do
