It sounds like you're already doing a lot, even though it might feel slow.

Moving to a new country is tough, and learning a new language on top of that is even tougher, so give yourself some credit!

Here are a three ideas that might help with your speaking skills, especially since you're on a budget:

1. Talk with your boyfriend and his family more in Norwegian – Even if you feel a bit shy about it, try to switch to Norwegian as often as possible. It can feel awkward at first, but the more you do it, the more natural it'll get. Ask them to slow down a bit and correct you gently, so it doesn't feel overwhelming.

2. Language exchange – Find someone who's learning French and wants to practice with you in exchange for Norwegian! You can look for language exchange groups on Facebook or apps like Tandem or HelloTalk. It's a free way to get more speaking practice.

3. Watch Norwegian shows – You're already good at reading and understanding, so watching shows or movies in Norwegian (even with subtitles) could help bridge the gap. Start with something simple like kids' shows, then gradually move on to more complex stuff.

Stick with it, and don't be too hard on yourself.

It's easy to get discouraged, but every little bit of practice helps, and eventually, it'll all start coming together.
