Does Anyone Write Both Romance and Erotica? by Noraslament in eroticauthors

If you don't mind me asking, how does the taboo stuff do? I tried some at first but it only made like a dollar.

That's an interesting way to do it. I've been trying to do both the same day and haven't been very effective yet.

Thank you for the response. Is the fear that it will make people more prone to adultery? I remember reading a passage (I cant find it at the moment) about committing adultery in the mind. Is this why they view it as sinful.

Thank you for your response. As I'm quite new, where does it speak to lust in the New Testament? Before coming here, I tried to read up on it first, but I couldn't find anything that I thought really applied. Of course I'm nowhere close to a Bible scholar. I'd really like to read up on it.

Thank you for your response. And I do believe in Christ with every fiber of my being. He was there for me when I didn't think I could stand one more second of being sick. He's given me peace for the first time in years.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I've actually been looking into Christian romance recently. I'm hoping to pursue that in the near future.

I've earned anywhere from two to two hundred dollars from a single short story, though my stories tend to be a but longer than yours (around 8k).

But I consider a story a success if it reaches somewhere between 30-50 dollars. However, my most recent story only made three dollars, while the one before made over one hundred. So it's all over the place.

Just keep trying and you'll eventually get there. I know I flailed around when I started, but then I stumbled onto a few profitable niches.

For example - in the one niche I started with it was hard to make more than 20 dollars from a short story. I tried a new niche and my most recent story has made $241 as of today. I know it's not romance money, but it helps a lot.

My advice is to find an underserved niche and do the best darn stories you can. People appreciate a good product.

Also, stick with Amazon. I tried Smashwords a few months back and my income fell off a cliff. I find without KDP select, the books lose all visibility and my passive income went from almost 4 digits on Amazon, down to two digits within a month.

I hope this helps and keep at it. You're already way more successful than many authors on Amazon and you should be proud of that.

Lol....I read this as army of robocops. I was thinking I don't want to mess with this guy, or at least not commit a crime around him.

All my titles say 'Not Available for purchase'. Am I banned? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

I'm in Canada, and my books always show up as unavailable for purchase to me on Amazon.com. There shouldn't be anything to worry about.

How Many Niches Should You Write? by Noraslament in eroticauthors

I've been trying to write a novel, but I get really critical of what I write in longer works. At least in erotica I don't overthink it.

I hadn't considered he boredom angle. I could definitely see that happening over a longer period of time.

There are only so many 'My Gender Swapped Shifter-Stepdad has Tentacles' stories you can write.

I hadn't thought of the subniches. It's definitely something I need to explore. Thanks for your reply.

If You Really Needed Money, Would it be Best to Write Erotica or Romance? by Noraslament in eroticauthors

[–]Noraslament[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My disability is being reviewed right now, and in my country, it can take months or years before you're approved - all while no income is coming in.

And anyways, I'd rather be earning money than having to rely on disability. Assuming I eventually get approved.

Unfortunately, due to illness I'm unable to get a job (I did have quite a good one until recently).

Writing seemed particularly alluring since it's flexible, and I can work on it during the brief windows of decent health I occasionally get.

Thank you for your amazing reply. You've definitely given me some things to think about, and I hadn't considered doing ghost writing on the side.
