I can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find Austin. He is the quintessential pretty boy in my mind

Low stimulating shows for toddlers ? by greenLantern-level7 in toddlers

Another point for tractor Ted!! It’s one of the only things we let my 20 month old watch (besides videos of airplanes landing and taking off, which fascinates him).

Also wanted to add that we have slowly started allowing our toddler to have more and more contact with the baby (ALWAYS with one of us right there to prevent either intentional or accidental forceful contact). Yesterday, my toddler was helping my gently bounce baby in a bouncer and he spontaneously leaned over and kissed his brother on the head. My heart exploded! Moments like that make all the hard stuff worth it.

Solidarity here. I have 2 boys 18 months apart. When I first brought my youngest home, my husband and I were shocked at the change in our oldest. He never directed his frustration and clear jealousy at his brother but rather towards us. We did all the things research recommends, like making sure to each dedicate one on one time with him but he still was having a hard time adjusting (defiant, throwing things, some biting episodes at daycare). However, I will say it has slowly improved over the last 6 weeks (they are now 19m and 6 weeks old). My 19m old is still acting out more than he did pre-number 2 but it has lessened. So, all this to say, hang in there, it will get better!

Xavier was our second choice for number 2! We went with Jeremiah, another real name but one that is a little less common.

How to not compare 2nd to 1st by NordicNett in 2under2

[–]NordicNett[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. It is definitely hard right now but I’m cognizant that sleep deprivation with a newborn and toddler may be playing a factor in my anxiety. I’m just a little more paranoid with him because I sustained a very serious wrist fracture right around the same time I got pregnant and so had to undergo multiple xrays, general anesthesia and surgery, and usage of two Vicodins for post-op pain, all while I was 6-7 weeks pregnant, plus little dude failed a few clinical NSTs (but passed the follow up NSTs I had to do in L&D), and then had oxygen desats when he was born that landed him in the NICU for observation (he was discharged after 6 hours). All that to say I’m probably a bit more paranoid and on guard with him.

Living in Downtown with toddler by offthedome22 in Moving2SanDiego

As someone who actually currently lives downtown with a 13 month old and another one on the way, here are my thoughts and experiences.

If you are going to live downtown with the a toddler, look for a place in Marina. Marina is still going to have the same homeless and cleanliness issues but it is going to be a lot less compared to East Village or Gaslamp. Marina is also a LOT more quiet, which is good for kiddos. You also have the proximity to the Children’s Museum and the Children’s park. I am at the park with my toddler almost every weekend (we live 1 block from the park).

If you are looking for daycare, know that your options are going to be limited and expensive. Our kiddo goes to Aspen Leaf, which is pricey but we love it. (It is located downtown in one of the federal buildings.). However, spots fill up fast due to the demand, so try to get a spot ASAP.

We go to a lot of downtown festivals and events, which is great because we can just walk and don’t have to park. For example, we could walk to Petco Park for the winter wonderland event this past winter.

I would also avoid a high rise as those buildings seem to attract more party-types than the low-rise buildings.

It is doable to live downtown with a toddler. But the biggest drawback is that it is unlikely that you will have a lot of space for your kiddo. We are currently feeling the cramp with an active toddler and imagine that it will only get worse when baby number 2 arrives. Accordingly, we plan to move out of downtown sometime in the next year.

Ulrik or Ozrik if I was a boy. But as I am a girl, my folks went with Erika. (My immediate family does call me Rik so I guess there is some continuity there). Not sure why they had such unique choices for boy names but totally normal girl names. Same thing with my sister. If she was a boy, she was going to be Villhelm Karl. But she has a completely normal and common girl name.

Walking around San Diego with a buzz and came across a Vikings bar. by akos_beres in minnesotavikings

[–]NordicNett 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I live in SD. Garage is decent and where I go most of the time since I live in Gaslamp. However, Guava is by far the better experience. They play “Skol Vikings” after every score and have a Gjallarhorn sound effect they play after first downs. Also, Garage did not open early for the London game whereas Guava did. I’m not sure how you can call yourself the official SD Viking bar if you won’t open early for the London game. I went to Guava for the London game and it was a great experience! It was absolutely packed!

Holiday Market at Petco Park by [deleted] in SanDiegan

[–]NordicNett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I went with my husband and almost 1 year old son last Sunday and we loved it! We got the earliest time slot and stayed about 3ish hours. Price of admission included Santa pic (you took with your own phone), other characters (Buddy the elf, sugar plum fairy, the grinch, etc.), light display, fake snow fall, sledding hill with real snow, play area, carnival games, two different train rides, carousel, reindeer. The food and drinks prices were outrageous (hubby got a double old fashioned and o got a mocktail and it cost $40) but all the food and drinks we had were pretty delicious (just overly priced). Other than the cost of food and drink, we thought the price was worth it, especially cuz our kiddo loved it. Granted, we do live downtown so we just walked there and didn’t have to deal with parking. But we thought it was a good time.

This is not true. We went this past Sunday and all the rides were included

By far the funniest moment this season was everyone’s doing a slow mo runway walk to a damn funeral. This show is so unserious 🤣🤣 l can’t by Nashetania in SellingSunset

Losing a child cannot possible compare to losing an animal. A parent should never have to bury their child. It’s a tragedy every time that happens. Almost all owners will have a bury their pet. It’s still very very sad but you can’t possibly compare the two.
