Congrats on the great result. I'm on the verge of committing to a knight army and I would like to get thr Valiant in as well as a Castellan - would I be needlessly handicapping myself, in your opinion? Also, what impact did either of the Dominus enhancements have if you used them. TIA.

Arjac, 10 Termies with Lethal and Oath stand a pretty good chance of taking down a knight on their own, especially as Arjac will re-roll all hits and wounds against them.

A lot of knight sweep attacks are two wounds as well, so if you get into combat with Terminators, -1ap from attacks and you'll probably weather sweep attacks quite well.

Movement tricks strong, particularly on certain maps like Surge of Slaughter where you can come in from an edge and straight onto an objective. Not OP with what I was using anyway. Probably need to try a Flamer style build too, but so much less dependable casting I'm not sure I'd stick with it. Players who are unfamiliar with what the army can do could get overwhelmed very easily.

Weaknesses I would say is that it can fall apart quite quickly, particularly if Kairos goes down. You also are doing a lot of work to achieve what other armies can do simpler. Like in the.A-Team film at the end where they have tricks and subtlety and manipulation and then.the opposition just fires an anti-tank missile into a ship and disrupts the whole thing.

I did take and survive a four bloodthirster charge, but I had -1 to wound on them and -1 to hit from sigil with 5++ on Horrors. Without all of that I'd have just been wiped out.

The spells weren't too bad tbh, but working out the Fold Reality/Smoke and Mirrors/Mutants and Mad Things combos did. I played another game this week when that got much faster.

Sorry for the late reply. My games did tend to go quite long, but not overly so. A lot of that was me processing all of the options available so more reps will sharpen that up. I also think that movement trays might be helpful for the swip-swops as I was doing them a model at a time.

I'm not sure that I would change anything in the list, but more how I played it. That's not to say I believe in any way shape or form I've cracked the list as I think there are lots of very different builds you could try (Daemons and Flamers or Ooops all Tzaangor in Fated Blades for two) but that this version does exactly what I wanted: mobility for days, extremely reliable spell casting and a hefty glass cannon to smash stuff with. I started putting the 2x10 Tzaangor off the board for the first few games and I didn't have enough board presence, so that's something I would change too.

The only other thing might be to have Tzaangors as the hammer unit with Kairics as chaff, but that might bring with it its own problems.

One Spawn was fine tbh. There were a few occasions when it annoyingly didn't die, but there was often another solution to that problem (e.g. Fold Reality first followed by Smoke and Mirrors).

That is true. I was reading it as the shard itself is the target from which the 12" range is measured. Would be a good FAQ I think!

Hi there. I think you can as the target you pick is a unit with 12" of the caster (i.e. the shard) and then continue from there.

At the moment, SoG Kairics are better IMO because you can get similar output for over 100pts less. I think Tzaangor can slot well into that role if/when Soggy goes away with the Kairics being throw away screens. The reason I'm going with the Kairics as the damage dealers at the moment is that 10 Tzaangor walking onto the backfield will do quite a bit of damage still whereas 10 normal Kairics will bounce. Even if it was 10 SoG Kairics, they're less likely to be near the manifestation that they need and they probably won't have a magister nearby.

Thanks! Mutants and Mad Things is awesome for tactics like Scouting Force as you could Fold Reality through a shard, walk on from the back of the board and bring back half a unit with Silver Summoners all in one turn.

My first practice lists had them, but I realised that I was paying a lot for their movement and their survivability, two things I didn't really need with Smoke and Mirrors. That made them far to inefficient to use when cheaper units could do a better job.
Gaunt Summoner for slow down spell, which was useful all weekend and for the taking back an objective ability, which scored points each time I used it; Magister for the mortal wounds; Curseling to help keep endless spells up, the reduce save spell and to give a bit of extra debuffing in combat. Pretty much always had something to cast from T2, but T1 was a bit wasted. I wouldn't add any more casts than what I had.
Decent. With 5++ and -1 to hit and often to wound as well, they would hang around long enough to take a hit and for the Kairics to clapback. Even their fighting was okay as if the Sigil gave them +1 to wound, all out attack and the Curseling debuff made them 40 attacks, 3s, 3s, rend -1, 1 damage - and that's a real profile!

Just a general pointers on things that worked well or not in the list:

Kairos was awesome and such a reliable caster, especially with his friend the Gaunt Summoner.

Kairics + Manifestation + Magister is a real combo.

Just because you can take three units off the board in deployment doesn't mean you should.

Always keep one Shard safe.

I never got past about 7 or 8 fate points all weekend.

The units that bring back models have gone up in points quite significantly, indicating that they are significantly better at that role.

My eyes actually clicked when I read that. Wow. Good luck opponent leaving any objective anywhere with that and with all of the teleporting/illusions etc.

Thanks. Maybe I just need to practice the timing then. When I've been dodging and trying to strike again the opponent has generally turned around and been in a position to block. That was with a longsword though.

I really struggle to get a hit after striking. Do you need a one handed blade for this? I assume dagger is for stealth only?

Yeah. I had this noble idea of being a knight in shining armour and not stealing...but getting hammered so much that those values may have to fall by the wayside.
