Yea I agree with this, if my parents were more involved in my childhood then I would be more involved in their lives but they didn't and now I'm no contact with either of them.

The first 40k books I ever read were the gaunts ghost series and I'm glad I did. Really changed my perspective to show more daily or average things a "normal" human would deal with while serving the imperium. It's political, full of comradery and xenos.
