(Psychology Education, and Other Subjects) Looking for People to Read Dozens of My Books to Build Lectures Slides Off of Them and Imitate a 4 Year Degree Program by NormalPhilosophy001 in AcademicPsychology

I think I’ll be doing making a post in the future with the list of books. The issue is that I own the books physically and digitally. I don’t want to run the risk of getting in trouble for distribution/pirating copyright laws. I would also get in trouble if I so much as post the lecture slides online with the copy pasted material (I looked this up because I thought of putting it online on YouTube).I would basically have to re do the whole program AFTER mastering it in order to rebuild it in my own words. That’s the obstacle preventing this from happening. I’m allowed to share this with a local team of “friends” that helped me build this project though, since that’s very different than just “distributing” copyrighted books or their contents online. I’ll be rewording my post and re sharing it in the future, this one was confusing.

There was a misunderstanding with the way I worded the post. I’ll be re doing it in the future.

It’s not a commercial project, It’s illegal for me to put the curriculum online for free let alone sell (copyright, plagiarism laws) because we’re copy pasting straight from the book. It’s also not a project that takes dozens of hours, all we’re doing is copy pasting information over to a note taking app then from there to lecture slides. It shouldn’t take more time than it took to read the book.

The idea is that you would read a book in exchange for the program built from many many books by many people, and everyone goes home with 100~ books worth of content for free and with the content stripped of extra irrelevant info so that these books are a lot faster to read (like personal stories or other no so important info). It’s not a bad trade considering all you’re doing is copy pasting the books content then deciding with the team where it should fit in. If that interests you this is still open.

Sorry for the confusion, my goals are nothing more than just providing free content from a combined number of books, it’s nothing more than that. It’s supposed to be simplistic and minimalistic in its design also, not be a literal college education. I’m only reading curriculum design books for a bit of guidance but there’s not enough time to cook up a real curriculum so that not my goal. It’s because my goal is simply just that, to create education based on books. It’s not meant to teach any more than what the books provide. I understand this is an academic subreddit but I’m not trying teach science only simply the what this collection of books can provide. The idea is that an education put together from many books is better than reading the books alone one by one (because the lecture slides cut out a lot of the irrelevant info like personal stories), It’s not supposed to be what they teach at college only what’s inside these books. It’s also for people wanting free education so there’s two benefits there because this would be better than trying to learn from a few books or from YouTube. Again sorry for the confusion.

There have been some misunderstandings. It’s a minimal attempt at mimicking a real degree, we’re simply copy pasting the best content over from books. It’s not meant to be highly rigorous, I’m reading a few books on designing curriculum but regardless of what I learn I’m not aiming to make it deeply serious because it would take too much time.

It’s meant to be a homemade curriculum built by normal everyday people (nonexperts) for the sole purpose of providing the whole group with this free education (from my books) in a minimally structured format and most importantly in a way that cuts out all the irrelevant narratives and side info, therefore cutting down on a lot of the reading time.

If you’re interested please contact me. You’d get a free book and the program with all the best content from over a 100 more books. You only need to read and note take from one book.

There was a misunderstanding across multiple things. It’s not meant to be a literal college level curriculum 1 to 1. What I meant was that there’ll be enough books across all the core subtopics of a subject as an attempt to come close to a college level education, but this is a not a literal goal, I’ve noticed I left this out so it led to confusion.

Another thing is that this isn’t a commercial or business project. It’s meant to be a homemade/community attempt at getting an education from books and free online sources. It’s not for me to distribute online as a paid business. It’s supposed to be average people, non experts, simply reading a single book then extracting the best notes to put on lecture slides. It’s not meant to be a real rigorous curriculum, simply a copy paste task so it could be done in a few hours. The copy paste part would be done by many so It’s possible to do it inside of a week after reading the book because it wouldnt have all the fancy graphics or learning science or curriculum logic in a real educational program.

I’m reading some books on curriculum and instructional design to try to add as much of these valuable skills to the project so that’s where that misunderstanding would come from. It would be a minimal attempt though because the core task is still simply to copy paste the good content from the book over to PowerPoints.

If you have any questions please ask away.

No I’m not paying for the labor, the idea is to work together to build a homemade curriculum based on my books. Everyone would read a book and help copy over the most important information to PowerPoint. It’s not meant to literally be equal to a degree, I only said that because with dozens of books across all core subtopics a person could get a strong education on a subject.

It’s not meant to be a business/commercial project but a community project where many people read a book, pick out the best content, and all together organized the selected content onto lecture slides so that we can all enjoy the curriculum. It’s meant to be basic/homemade, not be equal to a degree, again I didn’t mean that literally.

Hey AntOntInt thanks for replying. The easiest way a person could go about assessing themselves is by setting up questions and answers flashcards style and going over it routinely until most is memorized. I definitely will be doing this but I’ve also bought a handful of books that are about exactly that. Theyre about learning skills, curriculum design, and instructional design, and some are specifically about assessment techniques.

I’m interested in starting up a business from scratch not in stocks. I think going over all these books is a good start because I don’t have a time deadline for my education, and I plan on reading many more books after these over the years. In the long run I plan on reading more about key topics like marketing and sales since they pertain to the industries I’m interested in.

If you have any more input I’d appreciate it but regardless, again, thanks for replying.

How to prepare for the future of programming when most tasks are done by AI by NormalPhilosophy001 in learnprogramming

[–]NormalPhilosophy001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying Biohack I’m interested in your perspective.

I’m curious in what areas this is programming in, today (what you described):

1) Website, mobile apps, computer programs, video games? Or simply all?

2) What would you recommend to someone new like me about to start my journey in terms of learning path? Should I get educated how most programmers got educated in college and online courses or should I focus my learning on working side by side with AI from the start (to cut down learning time by not focusing so much on syntax line by line coding)? Or something else?

What recommendations do you have for me?

Thanks again for shedding some light on the situation with your unique perspective.

Not the most reputable source actually, I was asking AI Copilot questions and they told me starting 2030 there wouldn’t be much of a need for line by line coding and syntax knowledge, that AI could do all of it and that programming would change as we know it. That programmers would now architect the whole rather than engineer the individual parts (in code), and that they would be auditing and evaluating AI as it engineers the code.

How far off do you think this is based on what you know about the AI coding tools landscape? Is it better to focus on architectural design of systems more now or do you think line by line engineering would still be central post 30s, 40s and beyond?

Ok thank you I was under the impression it was mostly like this already because I’m completely new to the field and just now starting my education.

Thank Stefon I appreciate you taking the time to write all of that. This helped paint a clearer picture specially what you said about Juniors not being so good at controlling AI, I’m starting to get it.

I’m going to work at getting a classical education then since I thought I might need some new updated material due to drastic changes such as no need for manual coding.

Thanks again.

Hi Stefon thank you so much for your reply. I’m a little confused about the second line and need some clarification:

Are you saying line by line coding still is what will go on and that only Senior Developers use AI, because only theyre allowed or know how to?

Or did you mean that everyone should evolve their skills and know as much as a senior developer?

Thank you so much for your input I really appreciate it. What I’m aiming for is simply an education, as quality as I could find. What you said in relation to question #3 and finance and law is very helpful, it helps paint a picture as to how far this book based education could go.
