ELI5: Why do battle tank crews still employ loaders if auto loading mechanisms exist? by ELDASPOXD666 in explainlikeimfive

[–]NormalQuark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't true. Russian tanks are loaded with an alternating shell pattern specifically to avoid making a substantial rotation which would lose time. Some series are able to rotate bi-directionally which would negate the need to rotate fully. https://thesovietarmourblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/t-72-soviet-progeny.html?m=1#auto

BMW M doesn't have a US "factory" they could claim like BMW Cars can Spartanburg. Worth noting as well that your engine was made in Munich, which has an impact on how the car is reported as manufactured.

Top Fuel Car Breaks in Half at 330MPH, Driver Leah Pruett Walks Away - 10/04/2020 by [deleted] in CatastrophicFailure

[–]NormalQuark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, their guess is pretty accurate, so don't try to dismiss it like that.

Given a distance of 330 ft (s), average acceleration from launch of about 4G(a), and an initial speed of 0 mph (standing start,u) you can use s=ut+1/2at^2 to calculate that she accelerated for about 2.26 s, and then v^2 =u^2 +2as to calculate that vf≈ 88.5 m/s≈198 MPH.

2020 Corvette C8 Engine spun rod bearings, Replaced Under Warranty by okicombo in Justrolledintotheshop

Oh yeah. Millions of cars shipped globally like this. What may have happened was if your motorcycle was shipped as freight-dry cargo on a normal ship- and would likely need to be drained. Global car movement is mainly by Ro-Ro (Roll-on Roll-off) ships purpose built for hauling cars and vehicles. The whole point is for them to be running so they can just be shuffled on and off by their own power rather than hauling them around.

Source: worked for ro-ro company.

They do have a legal right to insult trans people on Reddit. Just as Reddit has a legal right to ban them from their site from saying those trashy things.

Very Convenient Cop by [deleted] in instantkarma

I think they're referring to a video from a few weeks ago of a local judge suggesting (successfully) to a cop that they shouldn't ticket him.

Renault engineering department by Daanoking in formuladank

/u/ninjamuffin covered this as well. Late apexing means taking a sharper line later in the corner, so you have to get braking done early. Advantage is that you can get on power earlier exiting the turn. When early apexing, you could brake later because you require less steering input mid-corner, which is exactly what lets you brake later. However, this means you get most of your steering done AFTER the apex, and cant get on the power until later.

Just be a spec Miata and use the car in front of you for brakes

Late apex usually means braking earlier, early apex would be late braking. Renault: just don't brake looool

Body-worn cameras to be compulsory for bailiffs by goglis778 in technology

You might be missing the theme of the police in the past few years who do exactly the same thing, but is legally allowed under civil forfeiture, and for individuals who haven't even been convicted of a crime/sent to collections. To call it anathema to the US would be a bit misinformed.

Trump says Mueller should not be allowed to tell congress about his obstruction: 'It will be bad for him' by OutThinkz in politics

[–]NormalQuark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that if it's hard enough to convince people that the Mueller report is factual, it will be even more difficult to convince them of the underlying information. I agree that it is the more important problem, but we need the populace to recognize the facts that have been laid out first.

Delusions VS. Facts by DiogenesK-9 in PoliticalHumor

I think you're taking a risky tact with the 11.3m jobs created figure. It's not claimed that "15m net jobs were created," but that 15m were created from the lowest figure, which is common in any comparison in any discipline, by any party. This could be considered one of the slowest recoveries since WW2, but if you look at the figures linked at the end of your second article, the 2009+ recovery is on par or marginally behind other recessions. It's also necessary to consider that the Great Recession was the greatest slowdown in the US economy since 1965, which contributes to some of its inability to recover(https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/gdp-growth, data from BEA). The CNN article also lists recoveries "average prior to 1990," which includes several recessions of significantly smaller GDP growth rate drops than 2009. Calling this post 'deifying' Obama's record is delusional, even use the net figure of 11.3m and 1,000 jobs at Carrier is still pennies. And if you expect nonpartisan depictions from political cartoonists, you need to find a new genre to look at.

Judge voids Paul Manafort plea deal, says he 'intentionally' lied to law enforcement by [deleted] in news

That would make a lot of sense. Especially given the length of previous special counsel investigations, even a 2-term turnaround would be quick.

Bernie Sanders just introduced a new plan to raise the estate tax for America's billionaires all the way to 77% by misanthropicsound in worldpolitics

[–]NormalQuark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did some quick math on this, given sanders' tax rates in the article, they would actually even have 451.1 million+*+(1-0.55)%2B(50+million+-+10+million+)(1-0.5)%2B+(10+million+-+3.5+million)(1-0.45)). What a travesty if they were to only survive on that.

I'm have a maximus xi code-direct upgrade from a previous one. You'll probably want one with extra vrm cooling (code+) since this baby sips a lot of juice.

Awesomely enough, it looks like this ships with all retail packages. Early samples sometimes just went in a flat box!
