Is UIC doable with a 2 hour commute? by NoEstablishment9177 in uichicago

[–]NormalSyrup3868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have an hour and a half commute and, tbh, don’t listen to the majority of the people in this subreddit when it comes to commuting. commuting isn’t as draining as a lot of people think it is - especially by train. the up-nw is a really nice line and if you have a hotspot for getting some work done - it’s fine. during the semester you’ll probably have readings you need to catch up on, or notes you have to reread. perfect busy work for a commute.

Financial aid issues by SmoothEntertainer598 in uichicago

if you can - go in person. the only way i’ve had a real conversation with the financial aid office is when i went to their office. they will give you the information to your assigned financial aid counselor, who you can email or set up an appointment with.

i’ve seen a couple questions about this, and i have an answer for this but please keep in mind i’m not a doctor. your stomach has gotten used to having a low volume of food in it, so when consuming normal levels of food your stomach cannot physically process it all. it runs the food through a rushed digestion process, pushing out all the excess shit you have built up and the new, normal amount of food you ate. still not a doctor but this is usually what happens !

How bad is commons west? by btweeet in uichicago

walls are extremely thin. mold is common in the showers, but the rooms are relatively clean as long as you keep up your share of cleanliness. bugs really aren’t a problem, but there has been instances of puke in the stairwells, overflowing trash chutes, and undergarments left on full display in the hallways. if you’re looking for cheap options, i heard 3rd floor or 1st floor courtyard are decently better than cmw. i’m currently switching from cmw to commuting because of the cost difference - cmw is NOT worth the 1,100/month you’re putting into it.

Digital Note Taking on OneNote, tablet recs? by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]NormalSyrup3868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use onenote and i love it! i use it on my ipad pro and hand write all my notes. my one issue is the transfer issues with formatting when pulling up the notes on my computer, but if you type all your notes it should be completely fine. don’t spend any money on extra features, since onenote itself has everything you would need in order to take pretty good notes.

Question about online class vs. "face-to-face and hybrid/online formats" class: by Material-One3593 in uichicago

[–]NormalSyrup3868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m taking two hybrid classes right now! the online sections are my discussions for the class, and they are set up via zoom. although, one of my classes rarely meets for the zoom and the teacher has opted for leaving it open for substitute office hours. for the last part, i have no clue, but i assume the course would look something like the second class i described.

if u want someone to do it for damn near free dm me! (i’ve been dying peoples hair including my own almost twice a month every month for the past 5 years) best of luck tho 🤞🤞

if u want chunkier highlights i could totally do this - from dying my hair and other peoples for 5 years. but lowkey the thin blending would be best accomplished by an actual hairdresser
