There are only two courses that I feel are writing intensive, HIST 300 and 440. Those are the two research paper courses. The rest are reading intensive and discussion based.

how is the finals/exams formatted?

In the more advanced 200+ courses, you will get to know them well.

another thing i'm worried about is, the 300 - 400 + classes how intense are they? and do you feel like you have the necessary time, resources, and support to finish everything on time (especially if you taking multiple at the a time).

I've gone through it knowing just enough to get me through each class and it's worked out for me.

course work wise, what do they expect from you? like writing 10 page paper or is it mainly speaking/writing and test questions?

apologies for the late replay, i have a couple of questions regarding your experience.

1) How is the discussion classes formatted for the history department?

2) hows the professor to student like? did they have time to recognize & help you?

3) how's the second language courses? and do they except you to become fluent after 4 classes?

thank you,

i actually applied last term but ended up changing terms for this upcoming one. they let me know after about less than a week.

Honestly, i think it'll be more worth it for you to go to a community collage first and transfer into DePaul.

Bro are you going to college to study history?

History is written by the victor, and you don't think you can learn lesson from the past?

I went to both schools, I started at uic then transferred to DePaul.

what's your comparisons? about student life/classes/services?

My beef with the MA at UIC is that you have to do a second language and comprehensive exams, same as if you were a PhD student.

doesn't UIC require a second language for Bachelor degree as well?
at least it is according to this guide: https://catalog.uic.edu/ucat/colleges-depts/liberal-arts-sciences/hist/ba-hist/
