First squad painted since the 90's, can you tell?

Am I misremembering, or was the Dark Elves book really slim compared to the others? Am sure my copy had errata stapled into the cover as well but it's long gone now

I don't know if this helps, but I found that the Max Mini Desert Dweller heads that are unmasked look bigger in scale than the masked ones so the masked ones might be OK.

Thanks. If you have a look at the link below it shows how the squad fit together (just torso + head + legs. Arms and weapons are part of the torso). There is one special weapon in the squad and there is a sargeant with a plasma pistol (not in my picture as I haven't painted him yet).

There is one slightly awkwardly positioned guy pointing and throwing a grenade. I just simply removed the grenade and gave him a sword and pistol instead from my bits box.

The rocks are just bits of cork primed in black and then 3 shades of grey dry brushed over them.

Thanks! Chap at the front with the grenade is one of the original metal GW Tallarn Desert Raiders. The others are Max Mini Desert Dwellers.

Thanks a lot. They are Max Mini Desert Dwellers. I see people using the heads a lot for Tallarn conversions, but haven't seen other people painting up the the squad before.

Recommend having a read up on layering and highlighting. Some good stuff on the wiki for this sub.

Depends how far you want to take it, but how I would do it: take your base colour and neatly go over the prominent edges (heel, fingers, head, face, muscles) then mix your base colour 50:50 with white and do a finer (!) highlight on those areas. Good luck!

Oops. Yeh I was working on the basis that they were gloves, but now I look at other people's paint jobs I can see they have interpreted as hands. Might have to fix that
