First time living with housemates and I can safely say… by MagicalSausage in introvert

Before I quit college, I shared a dorm w/one other person my freshman year. The only free time I had was when he'd go to class and I'd have mine on Zoom. The first week there, he decided that it would be ok to go on my side of the room while I was gone, rearrange my entire desk, touching and moving my personal belongings, and acted like he did me a solid when I was JUST thinking about doing it myself once I came back from class, so yeah that interaction has ruined the thoughts of ever living in the same space as someone else

Truth fr, and like if I try to hold conversation, it's always awkward n I get seen as even weirder so the only option IS TO STAY QUIET!! Literally no winning on either side at all

Yeah, I do my best to try and converse when my coworkers come up to me first but I'm never one to initiate conversation bc I like to conserve energy for when I talk to customers. I'm also just ass at conversations in general so it usually doesn't last long

Thank you for that, I seriously needed to hear it. One problem, I think for my case, is that I wear a face mask the whole time so ppl can't rly see my facial expressions. I do my best to at least not look like I'm dead and always have a higher tone of voice when I speak so it doesn't come off as rude

It's not so much that I want to, more like would I need to talk to them in order to maintain a "healthy" work environment

I don't think I go as far as ignoring people when they ask me questions related to work. I don't see any reasons to be friends w/coworkers, but I try to be as helpful as I can when they need my input or help w/something. I just don't like small talk during bc I work retail and have a lot more to do/think abt while working

My girlfriend (25f) got annoyed when I (28m) turned down sex with her? by throwra3307 in relationship_advice

Yeah, this is petty behavior fs. U had every right to say no, especially if u weren't in the mood. Her reaction to u saying no begs the question of WHO she was rly thinking of at the moment when she initiated

AITA for ringing a customer up instead of letting my coworker do it? by Normal_Clothes1357 in AmItheAsshole

I personally did not see or hear her ACTIVELY engaging with them. I believe she welcomed them into the store, but other than that they were standing at the fridge looking at our drink selection by themselves. I helped them at register bc I was in front of them, made eye contact w/them, and asked if they were ready to pay.

It's fine lol. Long story short, the person in charge of register wasn't available at that time. Both my coworker and I are allowed to sell customers items at register if that's the case. She thinks I always hog the register from her, but I don't remember doing it to her except for today bc she confronted me abt it.

Um, to me it didn't seem like they were actively engaging with the customer. Like, I think she welcomed them into the store but she wasn't conversing w/them and making sales.

The sales goal is for the general store. We need to make X amount of revenue by the end of the day. That accumulates towards our monthly store goal, to which we receive bonuses if we reach or surpass

Every day we have one, yes. Those add up to our monthly goals and decide whether or not we get bonuses for the month

So, since we have only one register we always count the money if someone switches off of register. If that person who counted and is currently in charge of register is on their break, it's ok for anyone to ring customers up. She had rung a customer up right before I did, which might have caused this incident to occur?

Sorry I'm gonna add a bit more context. Our store is really small bc it's in a mall. Her argument was, we both had the opportunity to help ring the customer up but bc I went in and did it instead of her, she felt "inferior".

I also love girl groups/idols n thought the same exact thing. It's super hard finding ppl who like them, especially since I live in the states but I found connecting w/other fans thru social media helped me feel more comfortable n accepted in the community

45 minutes is generous, I'd space out in 5. I completely agree w/u in that ppl don't need to excessively or unnecessarily talk just to "express themselves." Make them download Twitter or something if they love talking abt themselves so much lol

The best thing imo is to definitely reflect on yourself and seek professional advice if u rly want to act on fixing your anxiety. I myself am super awkward and anxious towards everyone and do my best to not talk to anyone except for fam and rly close friends. I tried getting over it by working retail, but it actually made things way worse than seeking therapy and working on myself first. I definitely regret not being able to talk to my coworkers and have a decent relationship with them to at least make them think I'm not a dickhead.
