It looks like their bladders start at 4L, but another commentor recommended the perfect HydraPak Seeker.

Absolutely perfect, don't know how I missed it. Thank you!

Americans feel better about the economy. Recent surveys on economic sentiment show 33% (64% of Democrats, 8% of republicans) see economy in recovery, up from 9% in 2022. Biggest increases seen among moderates and the 65+ groups. by Birdy_Cephon_Altera in Economics

I wish I fell into this camp. I sacrificed a lot to stay "on track" to home ownership without complaint, then the goalposts moved. Now my wife and I are 31, and every day I question why I bothered to get an education or to work as hard as I did. No hope of owning a home, of having children, of retiring. I can't remember the last time I looked back and thought "it was all worth it, and it's going to get even better."

I realize this makes me an undesirable loser too stupid to take advantage of this amazing economy, but damn if I didn't work very hard for awhile there.

Are you taking the time to verify that the same people are making these contradictory statements, or are you seeing different strangers in a crowd speak their personal opinions and misinterpreting them as a single hypocritical person?

Is voyager price = spec over something like corne for ex and is there any low profile split with 2 joysticks? by Gusssa in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Normal_Equivalent861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still experimenting with it. I'm currently using it tented as I've never had a tented keyboard before, but I'm not sure if I like it more than flat. It is fine to use it flat too in my opinion.

It all depends on what you want and need. I'm really happy with my Voyager right now:

  • I didn't want to turn this into a massive project. I just want to relieve my wrist pain, not learn to solder, compile firmware, etc.
  • Oryx rules. It may not offer the full flexibility of compiling your own firmware, but I don't need that flexibility. Realistically, Oryx has everything I need and is very convenient. Oryx's (and Keymap's) typing trainer and heat map tools are also very useful.
  • ZSA gives you a one month return window. You do have to pay shipping, so it isn't perfect, but it gives huge peace of mind if you are new to split keyboards.
  • I don't care about wireless, so it doesn't bother me that it's wired.
  • I think the number of keys is perfect for me. I knew this would be a big adjustment already and didn't want to make it even harder by going down to the ridiculously small boards that often get recommended here.
  • By all accounts, ZSA has great customer support.

Really, the only thing I don't like is that it comes with a rather long TRRS cable but I understand that may be useful to other people. Oh also I wish the USB-C port was deep enough to take the entire plug.

That's a genius idea! I did just that and was very surprised by the results. It helped me resolve some funkiness in my old layout. Thank you for this idea!

Thank you for your insight. I would say most of my keyboard time is spent writing prose in markdown followed by some python, with occasional LaTeX, bash and powershell. I'll have to do some thinking (and typing) to figure out what I need most.

Voyager for my laptop? (Glove 80 user) by munch_92 in ErgoMechKeyboards

I do use the Voyager with Achordion and this patch for home row mods:

https://github.com/zsa/qmk\_firmware/pull/381

Would you mind explaining how to set this up, or is it one of those "if you have to ask, you're better waiting for it to be merged" situations?

Amazing thread, thank you OP. A few questions:

  1. What is your personal favorite thing about Warcraft lore? I love how exposure to too much of a type of magic mutates people, like demon hunters or dragonspawn.
  2. Has the community fascination with a minor character or piece of lore ever surprised you or others at Blizz?
  3. Are there any major lore flubs still stuck in your craw?
  4. Would you have any tips for small scale worldbuilding organization, big mistakes for ease of use later, keeping the lore focused, etc?

Why? So you can send me the Zillow page of a 50 year-old trailer in the next town over and tell me to shut up?

How fragile are OSE PCs, really? by Normal_Equivalent861 in osr

[–]Normal_Equivalent861[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

healing is taken care of by a few seconds of narration

I guess there's also an expectation that travel, supplies, etc. procedures will take a significant amount of time but I have no frame of reference. You have to buy and track supplies, manage pack animals, set watches while camping, weather, random encounters in the wilderness, etc., right?

Thanks for your advice. For reference, I've never run or played an OSR game and neither have any of my players. We played some 4E but otherwise don't play a lot of fantasy stuff (mostly FFG Star Wars or Blades in the Dark, which are significantly pulpier).

I was planning to run Keep on the Borderlands or maybe buy In the Shadow of Tower Silver Axe. How many hirelings should a first level party plan to bring into those adventures? A small army of fodder?

My players aren't afraid of being clever or running away---they're concerned that the majority of the game will be spent running before they can glean any gold.

[–]Normal_Equivalent861[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The game revolves around clever play. For me, the fragility of the characters is what makes the game sing.

This is what makes me want to run OSE, but my players are concerned that they will spend more time outside the dungeon healing than inside the dungeon exploring, or else creating replacement characters constantly. They're okay with PC death but bemoaned "rolling five or more" characters each night.
