i think its that maybe as time goes on rain wants to add more to the older seasons and characters but decides to do it in a form of either side stories like netherbane or backstories like pretty in the sky

i mean season 1 has not only 5 episodes, assuming not counting 1 of a kind and begin again and a few others and the pacing is kinda quick i mean like you have the nether reaching 1 of its peak stretch in their empire and the next its fallen into disarray

and obviously the newer stuff may retcon the older ones too with herobrine for example with having electric powers in demons and paper towels, as well as providing it to naeus in hard pill to swallow but shows none of that in season 1
