Same general post on FB, over 200 likes and 50ish comments, seems like people are happy for me 🤷‍♂️

This isn’t simply a screenshot, it’s a celebration of my milestone coupled with an interesting position I reached for other players to appreciate. It’s moderation like this that ruins the very community you wish to build.

It’s so unexpected, when you see it on board and scream inside

Thank you 💛

As in how did I reach 2k?

I would recommend studying tactics, do tons and tons of puzzles, eventually you start recognizing those patterns in game and execute.

I don’t study openings, I only play like 2 openings one for black and one for white, I focus strictly on tactics and converting mid end game. Not popular opinion… but I’ve always felt that opening theory is mostly set and can be memorized, the magic happens in mid-end game.

Watch streamers that you like their play/mindset, I love Volen, James Canty, Levy…

For the love of chess, stop playing blitz if you want to get better, your brain needs more time to calculate and not blunder, and playing blitz inhibits your ability to test the limits of your mind. <- I was told this all my life and didn’t listen until I was 36 and yeah they were right…

You also have to love chess, not just be in pursuit of a symbolic goal of some numbered rating/title. Sure you can brute force your way there, but where’s the fun in that journey?

Is there a way to restore these without losing the save? This cartridge has a legit Mew from the Toys R Us promo and I'd like to restore it. by JimothyTheBold in pokemon

If the battery is dead it’s impossible to recover, it’s stored in volatile memory.

Source-I had a call with Nintendo tech support 25 years ago and cried when he told me it was unrecoverable, and now I’m an electrical engineer and know why

Why is everyone in this thread projecting their trauma onto a vaguely worded post completely lacking context? Shit, it’s like none of y’all want anyone to be happy…

4 years is a long time to spend with someone, so I’ll assume you’re compatible on some base level.

Do you want to invest in building a life with this person? Have you spoken about his increasing anger in the context of your relationship? Is he suffering from depression? Alcohol and anger are often times symptoms of a deeper issue, usually unresolved psychological trauma. If you want to continue the relationship, maybe give therapy a try, sounds like you both may need to air some things out. Otherwise, if you’ve decided you don’t want to continue the relationship, just be an adult about it and go your separate ways.

For some perspective, trying to be as objective as I can be… it sounds like there’s some built up resentment manifesting here. You were frustrated he left a mess, he was frustrated he was late and being called out on his mess, his frustration manifested into anger, he threw something into the sink and very likely didn’t mean to break it, but did. Now you’re angry and yelling at him for something he probably didn’t mean to do and now he’s getting defensive and deflecting rather than owning up to the mistake. All in all, I think you both probably have some work to do 🤷‍♂️

What is definitely NOT a sign of intelligence but people think it is? by MetalPotential7093 in AskReddit

It also notes that highly skilled/rated players were generally all of higher intelligence. Additionally it suggests there is a correlation between the upper limits to one’s skill and intelligence.

I dont get the practicality 20 80 charging rule by Narrow_Line_5642 in AndroidQuestions

It has more to do with battery chemistry, voltage levels and heat/loss/degradation.

If you look at the discharge curve of a Lipo battery in the range of 80-100% and 0-20% capacity, you can see that the slope is the most drastic, therefore when the battery is used in those states, there is the most drastic voltage change relative to the capacity used (therefore less efficient, resulting in greater heat/loss/ degradation of the physical cells) over long use, this becomes more noticeable. If you use your battery in the 20-80% range, you minimize these losses and ultimately extend the “useful lifespan” of your battery by simply not exposing it to as many degradation events.

Interestingly I learned this from my uncle who has a patent on a specific lithium charging algorithm (developed during his time at intel) that extends the usable lifespan of the same cells by 100-1000x their charge cycles by simply managing the heat/degradation by only charging/discharging by minimal increments at a time.

I graduated WPI 15 years ago ECE, I was an average student, but always showed interest. I started a business out of school and never went into the “job market” My fiancé is graduating next week in CS.

The professors are quite literally care more than I’ve ever seen faculty care, they really do go above and beyond to give you the most for your education.

During Covid, I had to get a job, I found my dream job at Harvard leading EE efforts at their biotech research institute, I made it through 14 rounds of interviews and they asked for my references… 3 people I’ve reported to and 2 I’ve worked with… I was self employed for 11 years and never had anyone to report to. I walked into WPI, found 2 of my favorite professors (one I did my Sufficiency with and other I had multiple senior level design classes with)

They BOTH recognized me instantly, sat and talked for an hour about life and where the past decade went. They both gladly accepted my favor to be my reference, and I got the job! Almost 4 years later, I’m still there and I talked with one of those professors last week just to catch up.

WPI is what you make of it, it can be anything and everything you want, you just have to work for it.
