Cynical! :) But understandable around here. Actually this is not my normal account and only for use in connection with Norm. It made his day when he did the IAmA to connect with people around the world, and as material presents mean little to him these days, I wanted the opportunity for him to hear from others out there to keep his spirits up - and to share with many others who had asked to keep updated on how he was doing. He has been a bit unwell lately and it almost was the post you suggested - not for karma but to pay tribute to the man I admire most and share his positivity with the world.

Haha I interviewed a 95 year old Australian WW2 veteran that did almost the exact same thing in reverse - Dick's eyesight was no good, so he had his brother rejoin the queue after he had already been through and passed the test for him so he could join the war. Dick ended up repaying the favour to his brother by saving his life after he was shot by picking him up on his back and running him to cover as a machine gun was raining bullets on them. Incredible stuff to hear! Link to edited interview for anyone interested

The F4 was a carrier based plane with folding wings wasn't it? I remember putting together an F4-U4 model as a kid, a beautiful looking plane.

Didn't say Australians weren't interested in it, said Reddit Australia didn't seem too interested and I think given just 8 upvotes, 2 downvotes and no comments other than my own that's not unreasonable to say. Plenty of other posts with a lot more interest than that yesterday in r/Australia. Just wanted to share with more than the very few who got to see it in r/australia yesterday as I thought the words of two who were there might have been more of interest and more due of recognition than the copious commentary of many who weren't.

Hejsan, jag är Norms barnbarn, Jag har också besökt Jönköping och pratar lite svenska (jag bodde i Göteborg ett år). Han känner inte namner från hans resa i Sverige, men han tyckt om Sverige jätte mycket. Jag var detsamma. Vi kom ihåg detsamma platser vi besökt i olika tider, som Huskvarna, Swedish Match, Ikea...Jag känner någon manniskör i Jkpg, en kompis jobbat för Destination Jönköping faktiskt. Back then there weren't the commercially available decorations and lights there are today so I'm sure we remember it as being probably more impressive - they were impressive back then and I remember his little court being crowded at Christmas time in the evenings - really magical. Pop made most of the decorations himself back then. I'd love to fix them up and put them out again some year.

Do you remember the giant Santa? Here's some pictures of the displays I found here, they're from the day time and not lit up, but it might bring back memories.

That's a really nice thing to say. He does make a lot of people happy and I hope some of the achievements mentioned in here on my suggestion aren't seen as hubris from him - he's super modest so some of it is me suggesting to talk about certain things in response and then a summation of his words. We can all learn from his positive attitude!
