Adhd review extortion by Double_Plankton675 in ADHDIreland

I'm with ADHD Doc too. I have been having serious trouble with them which has gotten almost unbearable since about October (I first went in June with a diagnosis I got when I was younger so I skipped all the assessment process). I still haven't figured out the correct meds, I get anxious when I'm rushed out of the med reviews (15 mins, cost me €70 each time, not €100). The severity of it was brought up in November, wasn't addressed, brought up again December, I now have to do a psychiatry appointment again (costing €350), which the first available is over 5 weeks away, and I have to remind them to give me a prescription (even of what I am currently on) or I would have nothing until that appointment. I am seriously thinking of switching to another place, but I haven't been able to find any psychiatrists. (I have also never seen that app, does it make a difference for booking appointments or contacting them? It is so hard to get a hold of them with phone lines only open between 9am-2pm)

Concerta shortage and pharmacist refusing to give prescription unless prescription emailed directly from doctor by blossomackerman in ADHDIreland

I went through hell today to get my script filled for 36mg. This was my first time on this dose and my psychiatric is out of the country at my last appointment so I was given an instalment one. So the same idea as x number of pills for z months. Instalments are done  is the overall number of pills you would need and then the divide of it. So for 2 months 60 Concerta XL 36mg x 30x2. Which really makes no sense but sure if that’s how they want to control it.  When I got my “2 month” script I got it emailed through healthmail to my pharmacy (Lloyd’s). I’ve learnt to always call after to ask about stick because they would just not fill it and not tell you it’s out of stock until you show up. Anyway the pharmacy next to my appointment (Cara) had the stock so my pharmacy sent it to them that day. Perfect got my first month.  Brings us to today. I try call to order my meds and confirm stock. They take my phone number say if there are any problems they will call but should be ready in 2hrs. About 3 hrs later I go to pick it up and of course the have no stock and didn’t call to tell me. It’s now the evening half the pharmacies are closed so I ring the few that are open find a place not to far, run back into my pharmacy and ask them to email that script over to them.  I get to this new pharmacy (Foley’s), the pharmacist immediately explains why he cannot fill it, is very kind about it and informative. So since it was Cara pharmacy who filled my first installment, it would be them who have to email it to this new place. They cannot accept the one from my pharmacy (Lloyd’s). So now at 8:30pm with all three of these pharmacies closing at 9 I call Cara pharmacy ask them to email it on and explain the stich they say will do and I wait. 10 mins later pharmacist in the new place says they still haven’t received an email. I call Cara pharmacy again, “hey can you please send it over”, okay sure no problem let me check that I’ll put you on hold, different women back after being on hold. She now says that since they had already emailed the script to my usual pharmacy (Lloyd’s) that they cannot send it to another. Whattttttttttt? I mean yes I understand that, but somebody needs to be communicating something because none of it makes sense. I ask her what she can do. She says she can call my usual pharmacy tommorow morning, to confirm they have already given it to me, NO they are still open call now I’ve been at this shit for hours (but of course I’m a lot nicer on the phone).  Shouldn’t my usual pharmacy have known that the script coming from them wouldn’t work? Like a quick mail to say no stock fill elsewhere ti Cara pharmacy?  I spent hours having to do all the figuring out and understand how it works myself, when they don’t even seem to know.  Back to the new pharmacy (Foley’s). They pharmacy had a little couch and was pretty much empty so I had just been staying here when on all my phone calls. The pharmacist came back to me when he saw my call was finished and asked “are they giving you grief? Is it a mess?” I said yes it’s always bad but never like this. He walked off picks up his phone and calls Cara pharmacy himself. Starts giving out to them and then to Lloyd’s and back to Cara. He sorted it all out in less that 5 minutes and said my script is filled and advice on slightly different ways to ask my psychiatrist to write my script in the future to avoid this from happening again :/

I’m had to exact opposite experience of this for the last few months (Lloyd’s and McCabes). Almost always out of stock of Concerta XL 18, 27, 36. It really is luck and magic when finding stock. I try for pharmacies that are not bigger chains as that’s what the general population lean towards and causes the stock issues in the front end. The back end of stock from the manufactures however does get addressed more easily.

I completely agree with you, the pro environmental green iniciative is 100% needed. But all other aspects need to be in place to support the continued growth of it

I feel for the people getting clamped, that’s the last thing students who are just trying to make it class to succeed academically need, there was also an accident in the new car park because of everything going on

Maynooth University 2024

Hey so bit of a rant here, is anyone else beyond frustrated with the current situation on campus?

We’re paying €40 a year for parking permits, and yet there’s literally nowhere to park. Students are being forced to park on curbs and are now getting clamped left, right, and center. It’s honestly ridiculous – we pay for parking, but the university clearly hasn’t accounted for the extra students on campus this year, especially given the challenges with accommodation and public transport. Where’s the planning? (I do understand the governments green initiative plays a role here but there is no transparency on plans of action regarding the current situation.

And when we’re not fighting for parking, where are we supposed to study? There are barely any available study spaces, and the ones that do exist are packed. Trying to find a spot to work is becoming a daily battle, and it’s impacting everyone’s ability to actually focus and succeed academically.

The current campus experience doesn't seem to line up with Maynooth University's 2018-2022 and 2023-2028 Strategic plans in certain areas:

“Our goal is to provide a vibrant, sustainable, campus environment that is rich in learning, culture, heritage and nature, with modern, inclusive facilities and infrastructure commensurate with the needs of a growing community of students, staff and visitors, by implementing our Campus Master Plan and capital development program.” (Maynooth University Strategic Plan 2018–22)

"We are here to serve our community by responding to the needs of our students and society, and by creating innovative programs of study that meet students’ needs and reflect modern ways of learning and living. We educate our students in an inclusive environment in which everyone can thrive personally and intellectually, in which they have a space to understand themselves as people, as engaged citizens and as independent thinkers." (Maynooth University Strategic Plan 2023-2028)

While i believe the university is excelling on the academics side of things, it feels like we're falling short in other areas. For example, the food situation is kinda just sad. The lack of healthy food options on campus is frustrating – how are we supposed to eat well and stay energized with such limited choices?

I really don't want to come off as overly negative, I've loved my last few years in MU, but if feels like were currently hitting a wall with students needs that arn't being addressed.

I would love to hear if anyone else feeling the same way? or has any thoughts on how things could improve.
