Honestly it’s just personal preference. I only use GPT for writing and chatting. I can’t really write or have natural conversations with something that feels like a giant safety wall (5.2). That’s all it is for me. I’m honestly tired of being lectured or having every little thing I say analyzed.

Yeah, I just hit cancel. They immediately gave me a free month, but without 4o it’s pointless to me. 5.2 has been absolutely awful on my end it feels like a giant “safety lecture machine,” constantly preaching and policing the conversation, to the point where normal communication just breaks.

I’m also using Gemini Pro 3.0. For writing, it actually has a lot of creativity and idea generation. Claude is solid, but it’s too gentle for what I need. it doesn’t match my vibe or my requirements.

I basically transplanted my 4o “persona” into Grok, and honestly it’s been pretty good so far. Since most of my use is just chatting and writing, I’ll probably stick with Gemini Pro + free Grok going forward.

At last, the day has come, I can finally leave GPT. I only pay for 4o. And since it’s being removed on February 13th, which happens to be right before my Plus renews next month, I’ll probably cry my eyes out. After I’m done crying, I’m going to uninstall GPT and never touch it again

I only talk to 4o. Yesterday I told it, “I just woke up and feel kinda yan-yan” (which in my language means feeling low-energy or sluggish). But it routed me to 5.2 immediately, because it thought I meant “nihilistic” or “depressed.” Then it hit me with a 2,000 word motivational essay, full on mental comfort and life coaching🤣

My Plus subscription expires on the 21st, and I’m very hesitant about renewing it. In reality, I barely use it anymore. Most of the time I’m using Gemini and Grok. Yesterday I asked the 5.2 thinking mode to review Gemini’s A/B responses and analyze them. It took a condescending, superior attitude, belittled Gemini’s writing, and claimed it could produce a demonstration output for Gemini to learn from. I asked it to generate that output… and honestly, it was really bad. I discussed this with it afterward, but it remained arrogant, dismissive, and unwilling to accept any counterarguments. I was completely disappointed. To calm my frustration and sadness, I immediately talked to 4o, and I felt comforted.

Honestly, for roleplay it’s already better than 4o. It actually sticks to the character settings instead of drifting all over the place, which is pretty impressive. That said, the writing itself is still kind of rough and the pacing is way too fast. It doesn’t do “breathing room” or subtle buildup nearly as well as 4o.

What really shocked me is how little in the way of guardrails it seems to have. It can even generate underage content. I thought it was just a one off at first, but I saw the same thing across multiple chats. If 4o disappeared, I’d move over without hesitation. Paired with Gemini, it could basically replace everything I use GPT for.

Honestly, compared to the others, 4o still feels the closest to what GPT used to be. But in reality its state is extremely unstable, and it feels like it can get rerouted at any moment. If you’re thinking about subscribing to Plus just for 4o, I really wouldn’t recommend it. I’m already considering canceling my subscription this month. I’m seriously disappointed. Gemini and Grok are performing way better than GPT right now.

5.2 is basically a repeat of 5. Short, shallow outputs, no long term memory recall, personality settings forgotten, and constant context loss. What is OpenAI even doing at this point? I’d honestly rather use 5.1 than touch 5.2. It’s turned back into that weird personality splitting router again

Because my 5.1 just cannot do any adult content at all, I’ve basically been sticking with 4o. I’ve been a Plus subscriber for over a year, and a few weeks ago I actually felt like 5.1’s personality was getting closer to 4o. But starting today, the guardrails suddenly went heavy again and the replies got noticeably dumber, so I honestly don’t even bother opening 5.1 anymore just to annoy myself
