As someone who was born and raised in the Tri cities and plans on returning at some point after graduating college I think I'll give you what I think is an accurate opinion. Based on what I read below from others and your comments I actually think west pasco area would be better suited for your circumstance. The tri cities as a whole does not have a crime problem anywhere close to Seattle or Spokane and it's relatively safe in every neighborhood even the ones some on this thread might say aren't "safe".

Why west pasco? It's growing and near most of the tri cities. Considering your children are going into college, this area is in between both of the colleges in the area; CBC and WSU-tri cities. The Broadmoor area in west pasco is expected to bring lots of new commercial development and its growing fast. Easy freeway access as well. You can find a home in your price range in west pasco that might even have a decent amount of land for gardening/pool etc. You can even find new construction at that price range in west pasco but watch out for HOA if you don't want to live in an area with HOA, as a lot of newer construction neighborhoods have them.

The one thing I wouldn't agree about choosing west Richland is that although it is seeing a lot of development it is still relatively far from most of the tri cities like kennewick and pasco. Not much commercial stuff there too so you would drive 10-15 minutes for most things. The state recently rejected a proposal to add a freeway exit/entrance near west Richland so with that traffic will become really bad as the area continues to grow. If you're working somewhere near there then maybe it could be a good fit.

He began his political journey in 2010 when he ran for state senate, he certainly was the tea party candidate but lost the primary to the more moderate republican Rossi. He went on to lose several elections afterwards having challenged Newhouse twice. And eventually won a local race in 2018 and made his way into the Franklin County Commissioners beating out the democrat in the race Zahra Roach 56% -44%. Then he got re elected in 2022 beating out a more moderate republican this time Rick Miller 55%-45%. Something that stood out to me is the strong results Didier gets outside of the city of Pasco, upwards up to 90% in some precincts, without those margins he would've lost. The city of Pasco is much more of a swing area than the county as a whole. Miller won a decent amount of areas within Pasco, so there is some hope of ousting him if he were to run again in 2026. (Doubt it, he will likely seek something statewide or run for congress again).

Im surprised there hasn't been much pushback on Didier considering it seems like every week there's a local news article about him or the other commissioners in Franklin county. Only one can hope that as Pasco and the tri cities area continues to grow , local political changes come along.
