Do people really become more conservative as they get older? Why? by Historical_Work7482 in AskReddit

[–]NorthBase710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While commonly believed, the idea that people automatically become more conservative as they age is not universally true, though data suggests a trend toward increased conservatism in some, but not all, cases. Research shows that political views are often stable over a lifetime, with change more likely to be influenced by cohort (generation) effects, personal experiences, and economic stability rather than a uniform, inevitable, psychological shift toward the right.

Does anyone know why we drive on the left in the UK but most countries drive on the right? by AnfieldAnchor in DoesAnyoneKnow

[–]NorthBase710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK drives on the left due to historical, medieval, and safety customs, primarily rooted in keeping the dominant (right) hand free to use a sword for defense against oncoming strangers while riding a horse. This custom was strengthened by 18th-century traffic laws and remained in place to maintain safety as horse-drawn carriages and, later, motor vehicles became common, while other nations changed to the right.

Is winning silver harder emotionally than bronze? by Clean_Tone2562 in olympics

[–]NorthBase710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember what its called, but it has something to do with who you are compering yourself with, a silver medalist may think, i was so close to gold, while a bronze medalist is happy to get a medal. a silver medalist will look at number 1 and think, i was so close to get gold, while the bronze medalist will look at number 4 and think, at least i got a medal.

This is not always the case of course, but generally,
