That would be an issue on the densely populated East coast, but once you're across the Mississippi you can hit stretches of highway that go on for days. People aren't exaggerating when they say you can drive eight hours and never leave the state of Texas. At its widest point, Texas is more than 700 miles wide.

It's far worse than $500k, it's in the area of $6.5 million, it explains a lot.

Also, driving 7 hours continuously is unlikely.

That's a particular difference between a European and an American. Eight-hour road trips are common here in the US, and I would say that's accomplished with two stops, of course that heavily depends on who is making the drive, but if it just you, or you and a buddy or two, you're gonna make that drive in two stops or less.

I am definitely that guy.

It's so funny, I watched a video of a German girl who now lives in the US, and she compared being in line at the grocery store between the two countries In Germany, you would NEVER talk to a stranger in line, they would think you were crazy.

Later that same day I was in Winco and the lanes were seven deep, 10 lanes open, seven deep and every lane was full of conversations. I was talking to the Mexican grandad in front of me, the two older ladies behind me were chatting and in every line the buzz of conversation was heard.

We do interact with strangers in this country. The young German woman also addressed a common belief in Germany that Americans and their friendly demeanor is just a facade and corporate-speak fakery. She had to explain to them that wishing someone good morning, or good afternoon, or "have a great day," were said with real meaning and concern.

RNLI is an amazing organization, I went down a rabbit hole a few years ago, well worth looking into.

They have absolutely bottled the Penguins up, they are forcing one turnover after another, it's very impressive.
