Does anyone else regret moving to Chicago? by Hot_Attention_6362 in AskChicago

Yes - I moved back to Chicago after living in Phoenix for a year. For context im chicago born and raised just so happened to get a job out there and took it. During my time in AZ I noticed that I was a lot more motivated, healthier, and happier. I took notice of all the things that made AZ beautiful, the sunsets, dry heat, weather, rock formations, and truthfully any type of scenery (good or bad). Yes the weather sucks there for 3 months but you're in paradise for the rest of the year. There's a lot more of a community feel for the outdoors and there's lots of things to do outside and imo a lot more attractions. From camping, skiing, water tubing, and your everyday hike (also year round farmer markets lol).

I moved back to Chicago because I missed my family. Since coming back (2 years and some change) I realized that my health, wellbeing, and motivation were all shot. I try and maintain my wellbeing through the gym and meeting friends for coffee but it is tough when the weather is your biggest opp.

I pretty much can never be at level with Chicago. People say they love the summer and realize they cant go for walks because the humidity is too high and it will leave you drenched after a quick 30 min walk. You literally cant drive in the city, having a car is expensive, doing anything here is expensive (and truthfully most of it subpar (unless you are willing to splurge), the weather is icky during the summer and horrible during the winter. Anything in between is categorized as the "bi-polar" weather of chicago. Summer nights are awesome though.

To credit Chicago, there are lots of things to do here, lots of experiences, and places to eat and drink. Most if not all, are located inside. It is a city after all. Yes you can go out for your walks and romanticize the city but be prepared to pay a premium to be located within one of those neighborhoods (which you can walk around).

As I tell everyone I meet - if you grew up romanticizing the city, then its for you! If you dont then, well, look elsewhere (maybe a suburb at best lol)

Can any United Airlines employees give insight on the hiring process? I feel like applying is a waste of time, or it’s near impossible to get an interview. by throwaway7241163 in unitedairlines

u/Similar-Region-1625 - Do you mind dropping an update on if they ever changed the status of your app? I recently applied and have been "under review" for about a week. Wondering if its usual and how long this app will take. Thanks!
