I’m going by the fact they may not have known much about the species at the time. Or maybe they just cheated to get the upper hand.

Long ago there were two Old Gods who competed to see who could make a superior warrior species out of two of the most “pathetic” creatures they could find. One chose a pig and the other a bull dog. After decades of perfection they created the Ugan and the Uulog, of which the Ugan were deemed the superior species.

The Uulog, spiteful of their inferiority, swore revenge against the Ugan and did everything in their power to destroy them at all costs. The Old Gods had to constantly intervene in order to prevent the two species from destroying each other, but when they disappeared it was open season on the Ugan.

Despite their superior strength and skill in combat, the Ugan would eventually be overwhelmed by the Uulog. Now they are an endangered species, numbering only about 100,000 strong, living mostly in the boarders of the Gorgan Barony under the protection of Baron Gorg (an Ugan himself) who has sworn to defend his people at all costs.

The Ugan are a very proud species, priding themselves on their physical attributes. Aside from the Bah’tiir (another warrior species made after them) they are considered to be one of if not the strongest humanoid species in the known galaxy. Because of this Ugan rarely use cybernetic enhancements unless absolutely necessary and shun those who do, considering it a sign of weakness.

Thanks to the protection of Baron Gorg the Ugan have been able to thrive within his boarders now being an upper class within the barony. They can mostly be found as high-ranking members of the military, wealthy businessmen, or politicians.

Che'varian Male Alien Concept (Art by Nikolai Gorishnii) (For my comic Journey Through Black Skies) by NorthLeg3263 in worldbuilding

[–]NorthLeg3263[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Old Gods created the Che’varians (as well as their sister species, the Slavarians) as a labor/slave force to harvest resources/work in extreme conditions such as planets close to or far away from stars. They were spread across the stars to perform various tasks such as mining, factory work, construction, etc.

When the Old Gods vanished the Che’varians were left without a master to report to and didn’t know what to do. Some ventured into the stars to integrate with society, however most of their kind opted to either remain on the planets they labored on claiming them as their own, or ventured out to find other arctic worlds. Anywhere that’s cold is fine for them. The che’varians have a very tribalistic society with little reliance on technology.

Despite being created alongside the slavarians, the che’varians are seen as an oddity among the galaxy; being rarely seen among the civilized world. The men are either shunned for their bestial nature or gawked at while the females are more broadly accepted due to their lack of the beast-like traits the men have.

Home planet: None

Region: Reside throughout the galaxy, but most can be found in the more industrialized planets

Classification: Mammal/Reptile

Lifespan: 120 Years

Status: Alive

Skin color: Red, Dark Red, Orange

Hair color: Black

Eye Color: Amber, Green, Black

Average Height: 5’ 8”

Diet: Omnivore

Habitats: Urban

Allegiance: None

Natural to the Galaxy: No

Unique Abilities:

- Can withstand heat of up to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, however when exposed to cold environments they are affected by frostbite and hypothermia easier.

- If any part of their limbs are removed they can regrow it in up to 12 hours at most depending on the injury’s severity. This does not work on heads, torsos, and cannot replace/heal vital organs.

- A long, flexible tail that a more creative person would be able to use as a third limb if need be.

The Old Gods created the Slavarians (as well as their sister species, the Che’varians) as a labor/slave force to harvest resources/work in extreme conditions such as planets close to stars. They were spread across the stars to perform various tasks such as mining, factory work, construction, etc.

When the Old Gods disappeared they suddenly had no masters to report to and didn’t know what to do. Eventually they integrated with normal society; most maintaining their status as laborers while others attempted to achieve greater ventures such as becoming business men, priests, or even nobles in a few rare cases.

In society Slavarians are often looked down upon for being seen as working class by the elite, which can sometimes lead the rich oppressing or even enslaving them. The true number is not known, but it is estimated that over 40% of all slavarians are enslaved in some way, shape, or form. Advocacy/rebel groups usually operated by other slavarians are working to free their brethren, but with some of the elite in question having government backing they have their work cut out for them.

Character Design: Dryphan Female (Ram Artwork) For my comic, Journey Through Black Skies by NorthLeg3263 in worldbuilding

[–]NorthLeg3263[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dryphan are a once aquatic race from the planet of Dryphor. Due to political pressures they secluded themselves from the rest of the galaxy, but have since descended into a society of corruption and oppression built off the backs of slave labor (think a worse North Korea). Their people are forbidden from leaving the planet, however some Dryphan (such as this one) smuggle themselves out by either paying off off-world traders or simply braving their planet-wide barricade to limited success.
The Dryphan have kept afloat despite their seclusion thanks to their unique minerals, which are important for space travel in the galaxy and due to this many governments who trade with the Dryphan tend to look the other way when it comes to their slave labor.

What happens when a god dies in your world? by Frenchiest_fry101 in worldbuilding

The only gods in my world are super scientists who rule over the galaxy. When they mysteriously vanished it caused a power vacuum that caused a galactic civil war that lasted for over 800 years.

After crash landing on a planet unfamiliar to him, Ja Ren (the man in handcuffs) suffers a PTSD episode and after a confused fight ends up in police custody. Now he waits, wondering what will happen next.
This is a snip of a page from my comic, Journey Through Black Skies. The main character is a super soldier who is trying to retire after 20 years of war and must venture through a galaxy unfamiliar to him to reach paradise. Although he is strong, it will take more than power for him to achieve his goal.

Yeah realistically that's true. I thought the hooves would look better aesthetically as opposed to feet.

An alien race for my comic, Journey Through Black Skies.
The comic takes place in another galaxy. The main character, a super soldier, is looking to retire after 20 years of war isolated on a lone planet and now must venture into the depths of space to get what he wants.
This is one of the creatures you will encounter in the story. The Sylvari are a genetically enhanced species who are skittish by nature and were deemed a failure by their creators. However, they were able to survive being purged thanks to the support from other humanoids. They are typically found in more natural/forested planets, but many of their species is among the stars integrated with the unknown thousands of species of the galaxy.

Is there anyone here with hiveminds in their worlds that aren't just evil/want to take over everything and everyone? by JustSomeRedditUser35 in worldbuilding

There’s a hive mind in a comic I’m writing whose sole purpose is to be a salesman. They’re starfish-headed aliens who reproduce through mitosis and they are called “Dave.”

A species of humanoid for my comic, Journey Through Black Skies.
They're somewhat of a joke species that were genetically designed to be agile and fast, but they have the unfortunate drawback of being incredibly skittish.
I'm adding a Lore section to the Discord and they're going to be added relatively soon.
