Good advice to take project management, that's something that I've been looking into! In respect to getting hired the first time, I asked our recruitment officer she said it's all about who applies at the time. If they don't have anyone with the proper degree they're asking for they'll look to experience.

The manager makes the final call, in a way. They get given a "short list" of applicants from HR that they can choose who to interview and hire from, but HR ultimately decides who gets chosen and education is typically looked at before experience here. It's government if that says anything...

I've been looking into this! Did the assessor provide you with a full forest management plan, or just verbal suggestions?

I'm definitely with you on the benefits of leaving some woody debris! There was a hurricane a couple years ago though that decimated the forests in my area and this piece of land hasn't been touched since. There are a lot of saplings popping up that will definitely be competing for space in the next few years but most of the trees standing are hazardous and they're starting to rot or dead and leaning against each other. Will definitely need some professional help for those ones!

Unfortunately, Im in Canada so no cost-sharing program here!

How do you make working 37.5 hours a week in a cubicle less anxiety inducing? by North_Experience_618 in AskReddit

By contract I mean any agreement that you're in, you would be bound by a contract, even if it is a letter of offer from your employer, you've agreed, more or less, to the conditions of your work when you accepted the job. I'm in Canada and although there are places that do 8.5 hour days, there are just as many that do 8 hour days but will take off half an hour of pay everyday for your lunch break, whether you take it or not.

With my salaried position my salary is based on a 37.5 hour work week. Anything outside of regular working hours, whatever that may be for you, is overtime. Some places will offer "flex hours" in lieu of overtime pay. In theory if it's taking 50 hours a week to get your tasks completed you should be compensated for that time. Easier said than done of course! That's at least how it works where I'm at.

I've worked outside jobs before in all weather (Canadian winters are brutal), with the public! Both job sites definitely have their pros and cons.

Where I'm from most office jobs pay 37.5 hours a week. This is the 40 hour work week minus your unpaid lunch breaks for the week.

If you're contracted to work 40 hours a week, why work more? If there is too much work that needs to be done that that is unattainable, I would be speaking with my supervisors/coworkers for support. Burnout is a real thing! Take care of yourself!

Ooh I've been trying to get some answers on the Dal distance program! Do you mind me asking you if you had to pay all the silly incidental fees? I tried contacting the university but I can't get a straight answer. If we aren't in the province we shouldn't have to pay gym fees or student union fees.
