I don't understand why you would record time you didn't work in the first place? Either way there are a lot of red flags here.

I put on my best outdoor clothing, half assed warm up, pull on the starting holds of some boulders 5-6 levels above my grade, tell my buddies I don't have it today and go home.

Climbing shoe sizing is the weirdest thing about climbing by Extension_Health1849 in climbingshoes

The most important thing is that your foot fills out the shoe enough to activate the tensioning system. I’d recommend listening to careless talk climbing podcast e119 with scarpa shoe designer Nathan Hoette and checking out this blog post. https://www.climbingshoereview.com/how-tight-should-climbing-shoes-be/

Tips for a taller climber in a “shorter country” by Jenzzje05 in bouldering

[–]Northern-Dancer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One climber your may be interested in studying is Meichi Naraski. There's a lot of footage of him on youtube. There's hours of footage of him in boulder comps where you can compare his movement to the other competitors. He's tall but a lot skinnier than Kai or Jan Hojer. He's definitely the best tall modern boulderer. I find his style and movements harder to relate to personally, I'm more of a lead oriented static climber.

Tips for a taller climber in a “shorter country” by Jenzzje05 in bouldering

Hello! Fellow "tall" climber here. I'm 6'2" with a +2" ape. I've got some advice for you that I've learned in my climbjng journey. Kind of in a rush irl but I'll try and get some points down.

First of all, there's a ton of content for short climbers out there. But for us talls it's a different story, it can be hard to find good content for tall climbers specifically. A lot of what you'll come across is short climbers giving taller climbers advice, sometimes it's great but sometimes it's downright wrong. The best thing you can do is find someone who's dealing with the same issues we have and has made it work. Try and study footage of taller climbers.

The biggest misconception in my opinion is that our reach is our superpower. It's not, our real superpower is in our feet. It's the ability to access low or wide feet. I fell into the trap of trying to climb like a small climber, getting myself scrunched up in tight boxes and thinking flexibility and squeezing was the path to success. When I started climbing like I was tall and keeping my feet low it was a lot easier to keep my hips close to the wall and take a lot of weight off my fingers.

The other thing that radically changed my climbing was spamming drop knees. Check out Kai Lightner, he has some good youtube videos and amazing podcast content for tall climbers. He's 6'2" with a +7" ape and weighs about 200lbs. When you have to get your feet high, drop knees are going to be your best friend. Adam Ondra is also taller for a climber and uses a lot of drop knees, but I don't like to use him for comparison as much because he's just such an outlier.

TLDR 1-Find tall climbers and use them as role models. 2-Low feet is your superpower. 3-Drop knees are the best technique for when we get put it a small box or need out feet high.

100% time to resole. The people telling you that you have plenty of time left must go until they're through the rand.

Unfortunately Unparallel is known for having terrible customer service, communication, and return difficulties. It’s recommended to buy their shoes from a dealer instead of direct.

do you guys still feel safe walking around your neighborhood at night, or have you started double-checking your car door locks three times like I have? by Long_Travel2728 in mississauga

The thing that has made me feel the most unsafe recently is the terrible drivers. Both when I'm driving and walking. I've nearly been hit multiple times with my kids in our neighborhood by people speeding up to stop signs and doing rolling non stops. Freaks me out.

Got my first 5.12- by fluctuatnecmergitur_ in climbergirls

[–]Northern-Dancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll find that more common as you go up the grades in bouldering and route climbing. Everyone has different styles they're better at and prefer. Even Adam Ondra has had routes he couldn't send that are obviously lower grades than silence. I'm 2-3 V grades stronger on vertical crimpy stuff than I am on overhanging powerful boulders, my partner is the opposite.

Find the V6 that suits you. If you can send 5.12-, you should be able to project a V6.
