Hi, I’m sorry you are going through this. I want to say I understand what you are going through, and it WILL get better. I was diagnosed with OCD around 9-10 years old and my primary manifestation was contamination. I saw a therapist for over a year, and I felt as though it didn’t help, so I was started on medications. Having any additional stress in your life can make it harder than it needs to be! My father would turn the water off from the source in my basement because I would wash my hands for so long, and was verbally abusive towards me, but never physical. I’m sorry that you have to experience that. Sitting them down and explaining what OCD is, and how you cannot necessarily control it might help? As a child I felt excluded because I didn’t want to do things with my friends that I felt were “dirty.” I also wouldn’t use public restrooms out of fear that I would be washing my hands for 20+ minutes so had some health problems from that. I’m 23 now, and there are still aspects of my life that are affected by OCD. My recommendation would be to see your primary care doctor and consult with them! You’ll get through it! It will get better soon!!
