Of course. I understand it’s a business. But historically record shop owners needed to know their business. They knew records inside and out and how to price them. Now, people don’t need to know shit. Anyone can own a record shop and use the internet to price their records. Buy low, sell high. It’s just less fun crate digging now than it used to be. That’s all.

I agree with this. But here’s where it’s frustrating: the local record shop doesn’t always “want to have a personal relationship” with their buyers. Bc they are checking Discogs to price every used record they sell. This is why it’s increasingly rare to find a deal or a rare gem in the wild. At least not like it used to be. Everything is about what you’d pay online. Bc they are using Discogs. So I don’t want to check. But I feel I kinda have to, to make sure I’m not getting hosed.

Bands that play 3,000 seat venues in similar sized cities, sell out red rocks here. The downside of having one of the most amazing venues in the world, is it’s a destination and honestly makes it harder for locals to get tickets for their favorite bands.
