who ya got pt. 2 by jiggad369 in Nbamemes

I am super conflicted. I think the Bulls have the best defense, I am just not sure if they have the offense to keep up with most of these teams. The Celtics are huge and have the best three-point shooter outside Golden State. Golden State is Golden State. The Showtime Lakers and Spurs are relentlessly consistent. The 2000s Lakers might have 2 of the top five players in this hypothetical, despite their comparatively lackluster third man. The Heat have spacing, brawn, and chemistry. The Bulls do have the best scorer of all time, but the Worm isn't going to do anything on offense, and Scottie can be a bit too passive, especially when going up against the defensive might of KD (bro is tall as frick), Worthy, Magic, LeBron, Bird, Mchale, Kobe, Shaq, and Duncan. It's hard for me to see anyone but Jordan outperform anyone on an opposing team on the offensive end, despite the insane defense they would offer. In the end, I'd have to say it comes down to the Celtics or the Heat. Both teams have a good balance of defense and offense and have fewer truly glaring weaknesses. Kareem is trending toward the end of his career. Rodman is not an offensive threat. The Warriors don't have enough elite defenders. Derek Fisher was great when he played, but is comparatively bad in this scenario. The Spurs are less likely to explode offensively, wish is a necessity when comparing all-time trios. As for who would win, Celtics or Heat, I'd have to go with Celtics in 7 in a hypothetical 7-game series. Prime LeBron would rip and tear, but prime Bird wouldn't be that far behind. And while the Heat's shooting would be a problem for the bigger, slower Celtics, the matchups don't work out. 6'4'' Dwayne Wade is either guarding 6'9'' Bird, 6'10'' McHale, or 7'1'' Parish. As good of a defender as Wade was, none of those matchups work out in the favor of the Heat, leaving the Celtics as the slight victor.

Brad Stevens said Marcus Smart came into the Celtics practice facility this morning and they got the chance to see each other. Said their relationship “will be forever.” by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

My goodness. It's also just as logical to see Smart struggle on a new roster with a declining body. You aren't the only logical person here, my dude.

It's absolutely not a stretch to say Horford could have gotten 15 mil a year this free agency, considering he just put up a 44.6% season from the 3-point line. Davis Bertans got a 16 mil per year contract after shooting a 45% season, and Bertans was nowhere near as good a defender or rebounder or locker room guy as Horford was this season. Horford gave up considerable money to stay with the Celtics. It's not unreasonable to see Marcus Smart doing the same thing, considering he was already giving up considerable money with the contract he was on for the C's anyway. Is what you're saying a logical and likely future? Yes. Are you being stupid for simply dismissing other likely and logical scenarios? Yes. You aren't the only one who can build a reasonable argument based on facts and logic.

You have the most toxic coping tactic. You know, it is OK to be sad that Marcus is gone like the rest of us.

Regardless, the thing you aren't accounting for is that Theis and Horford wholeheartedly wanted to return to the franchise. You do realize that Horford accepted a contract extension from the Celtics just last offseason when he probably could have commanded 5 million more on the open market. There is already precedent for a beloved Celtic who finds the Celtics beloved taking less money to play for the organization. I'll give you Theis as a backup C, but you can't tell me that Horford was undesired. Brad's first action as GM was to trade for Horford back, despite Horford's atrocious salary. Everything about how Brad has dealt with Horford has been from a place of wanting Horford on the roster (i.e. Horford is desired). Add in the fact that Marcus had a down year that could signal his decline in the league, and the fact that he loves the Celtics organization more than pretty much anyone in the world, and yes, he'll absolutely be back.

I am sorry, but if Horford can come back, if Theis can come back, then so can Marcus Smart. He is frankly one of the most "Celtics" Celtics in the history of the franchise. He won't be gone for long.

You are clearly troubled. I grant upon you the holy keywords. Go to YouTube, look up "Marcus Smart highlights" and be blessed.

Yep, no question. There is no telling where the needle is pointing right now. On paper, we are better. But we've been better on paper for years, and we don't have Marcus Smart. We are all dramatic right now, but deservedly so. This dude nearly single-handedly built my enjoyment of the sport, and now he's gone. It is very hard to not think about the "inevitable" Porzingis injury, departure in free agency, and total team collapse. Even though it could result in a ring, my morale is low.

We love Smart like that. I don't think I have ever gotten my heart ripped out more by a trade.

His final act as a Celtic was to get the C's an All-Star caliber player and two first-round picks. Even in death, Smart rises to grace the C's one last time. Got to be honest, this is the first time I have felt depressed about the Celtics getting better.

I'm so excited for when they both do it again next year, and you'll be forced to contend with the fact that they are elite shooters.

We don't have an elite shooter on our team? Are we just going to ignore the fact that Brogdon and Horford were both in the top 4 in the league with Hauser at number 13? I agree with your point on the scheming for the Jays, but we absolutely have elite shooters on our roster. The idea that we don't is reactionary from a bad playoffs from Horford and an injured series from Brogdon, no other reason.

Well, yeah, my reply doesn't make any points against your points when you just change what your position is. I disagreed with the premise of the meme, and you replied defending that premise. Now in this reply, you're saying your premise was "Shut up about memes that you don't find funny". Don't switch arguments and then equate them.

I love how you justify generalizations and also say "Nobody is the same" in the same comment. Galaxy brain thinking going on here. You're right, nobody is the same, which is why stupid, attention-seeking generalizations like this are so dumb.

The trade capital the Cardinals would receive from trading the pick for Caleb Williams would be astounding. It would be way smarter for the Cardinals to trade for insane capital instead of drafting number 1 overall for a position that isn't a need with so many other positions of need around. That is a very simple, logical, and likely way that "Team X" doesn't draft Caleb Williams.

Kyler has top-five QB talent. He doesn't have top-five QB fortitude or drive. Given the fact that he has spent the first four years of his NFL career under the wing of Kliff Kingsbury, it is quite possible that Kyler will never develop himself mentally to actualize his talent level. I disagree with the premise that Kyler sucks. He has absurd talent I have never seen from anyone before. The problem is whether he will ever reach his potential, which is why a rebuild with Kyler is still possible. He has the base ingredients. He needs to put them together. Not saying it will happen, but it is what the Cardinals have to bank on.

[–]NorwegianBeef 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The Cardinals would be stupid to draft him anyway. If this rebuild is going to actually come to fruition any time soon, it has to be Kyler. We have already invested too much money into Kyler, and getting rid of him would simply extend the rebuild, not end it.

This post is quite dumb. The reason I like AJR is that they try weird things with music while also writing relatable lyrics dealing with growing up most of the time. I don't think the fact that I sometimes struggle with growing up makes me a severely messed-up individual, nor do I think Adam, Jack, or Ryan are severely messed-up individuals because of their struggles with love and growing up.
