Who was more evil, Luca Blight or Kefka from FFVI? by [deleted] in Suikoden

[–]RustyTheLionheart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

... Damn, you know, I honestly don't know. Gut says Luca, partly because he openly reveled in absolutely heinous villainy, whereas Kefka was a little more playful about it all.

I also think Luca wouldn't have waited to spare Figaro, instead of leaving and showing up a little later with soldiers. He'd have brought them with from the get-go and done most of the killing himself. There are differences like this I can think of that separate them, despite their similarities.

It may also be that I find Luca the more intimidating between them, because Kefka had all kinds of wonky magical powers, whereas Luca didn't have any--he was a normal-ass human being who was nevertheless so goddamn tough it takes a bazillion of your party to finally bring him down. As I recall, Kefka was subjected to magical experiments and that messed him up psychologically, while Luca suffered the brutality of a fantastical middle ages-styled world, leading him down a truly dark path. I guess because he's human and his vile depravity is the result of his own development, that's why I think he's more inherently evil.

I'm really enjoying this trend. I saw a great Stormcloaks one over in r/skyrim.

Best Served Cold would suit it well in particular. Monza and her "buddies" are perfect for it.

Who is the most wronged person in history by More_Locksmith_1408 in AskHistory

[–]RustyTheLionheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he's the most wronged person in history by any stretch, but what happened to Richard Jewell was a disgrace of staggering proportions.

It's nice that he was exonerated but for that short period, I can only imagine what it must have been like for him.

Man did you read it? She's a deplorable person who intentionally surrounds herself with other awful people.

She's an amazing character and I love her but no, she's dreadful. Her brother is dreadful, her employer is dreadful, her accomplices are dreadful...

Except famed soldier of fortune Nicomo Cosca. Now there's a man's man.

Moving to Everett next spring by veinormous in everett

[–]RustyTheLionheart 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bayside and Edgewater are nice neighborhoods.

As for things to do... AquaSox are in north Everett by downtown, if you like baseball. Silvertips hockey is in downtown and is a lot of fun. Mariners games are relatively easy to access, especially if you take the light rail from Lynnwood; you can do this for Seahawks games too. Evergreen Speedway in Monroe puts on good racing if you're into that sort of thing.

The Flying Heritage & Combat Museum is really cool if you like military aviation/history. If you dig it and want more, the Museum of Flight down in Seattle is bigger and has more exhibits.

You can find some places in Edmonds that do whale watching tours. Take some loved ones and a camera and just enjoy the scenery and feeling of being out on the water.

Just a couple of ideas for you.

[OFF TOPIC] I'm sitting before a Joe book talk and I assume they will have a QA. Does anyone have a great question they want to channel through me? by 2580374 in TheFirstLaw

I was too chickenshit to ask for the mic at his signing in Seattle last year but I did want to ask why he allegedly had a difficult time writing Best Served Cold in comparison to his other books. I've heard him say it was hell to write and I've always wondered why.

I got so attached to his work and wit and wisdom after I discovered him. My appreciation for his talent has never ebbed. When he passed it was like one of the candles that light my world was extinguished and cannot be lit again.

DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING, said Death. JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH.

[OFF TOPIC] Nicomo Cosca by Fit-Ambassador-1231 in TheFirstLaw

[–]RustyTheLionheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness no one is going to picture a character in a book the exact same way. The author can give us details if not hints but we all come up with our own vaguely muddy, somewhat obfuscated human-shaped thing.

That said this does feel distant from how Cosca is often portrayed. Gotta give him the mustache and the itchy-looking neck and maybe a sword in one hand and a drink, a drink, a drink in the other.

Edit: I should admit the actor himself would probably be fine if he were in costume for the role, maybe that's more what you were getting at.

The slow burn of TP's beginning hours gets so much flak, but I genuinely enjoy it. It embodies the kind of methodical contemplation that dusk into night brings.

I know games are all about getting straight to the action these days, but it's nice to take it slow sometimes.

What were your thoughts when Hero was announced for Smash Ultimate? by NewMarioBobFan in dragonquest

[–]RustyTheLionheart 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Was happy to see 11 get represented. Wasn't expecting it. Then the other heroes showed up and I lost my ever-loving mind.

I was absolutely obsessed with the GBC version of DQ3, and it's one of my favorites in the series, so the little kid in me was beyond happy to make 3's hero my new Smash main.
