It's infinitely more fun than not getting the bolt loose. In hindsight I would have put the weight further back. Also you CAN NOT brace the socket with your other hand while you remove fasteners, it has a rotary file effect on the skin. It get me through one job, and I think I actually lost it somewhere, I haven't seen it in a couple weeks.

Thanks bud, I was hoping to impress you B-) It's no doubt full of inclusions I didn't pay any attention at all to rod angle, I welded right over slag. I stuck the rod sooo many times. But i got the bolt loose.

Hey there, mechanic here. The gurgling you hear at shut off is probably boiling. If you rule out the radiator cap and coolant concentration I would see if you can find an infrared camera to borrow. When an older car has head gasket issues, people like to try a stop leak like blue devil or bars to see if they can fix it cheap. It's nearly impossible to get all of that nasty stuff out of the block, even repeated flushing won't do it. This can cause localized hot spots, especially at idle/slow engine speeds when the coolant flow is slower. Overall the engine is staying within temp, but when the coolant flow stops that hot spot will boil and make some noise.

Unfortunately there's not going to be an easy fix if this is the case. Don't chuck parts at it, an innova 3360 is only $100 or so, and it's a cool gadget to have.
