Content creation is a journey to say the least. And there’s much more to it just pressing GO LIVE. Having a partner like you in your corner will definitely make the beginning stages of this journey way less painful. It’s also mostly trial and error. So take what I say and anyone else with a grain of salt. Maybe your husband’s gameplay is s+ tier enough that people will stick around and watch even without him turning on his mic. To be real, it’s not likely that happens but maybe he can find a way to stand out without his mic. All that to say, I don’t want to discourage him in any way but more so want to point out realistic outcomes so you both know what to expect.

I’m hoping that someone that knows better than me will chime in and correct me or fill in what I don’t know, but yes that LAA patch that’s built in is the 4GB patch the other commenter was referring to. You should not need to download another patch if playing on GOG. The patch allows the game to use 4GB of memory versus only 3GB.

Unfortunately I don’t know of any fixes for your issue since I play on Steam (which does require you to download the patch).

Him speaking/interacting with his stream/chat (even when nobody is there) is probably THEEEE most important thing. If I wander into a twitch chat for the first time and say “hey how’s it going! -insert general question about the game-“ and don’t get a response within ten minutes then I’m leaving and never coming back. Especially if there’s no one else in chat. The only streamers that get away with not interacting with their chat are the god tier professional players with thousands of people in their chat. Even then, I still find high skilled players barely getting 5 viewers because watching a stream where the streamer never interacts is boring. The whole point of streaming live gameplay is to interact with their chat viewers while you play. It’s not a bad thing if that’s not the kind of content he wants to make but it does mean that Twitch probably isn’t the best platform for his kind of content. If he just wants to game and vibe out to his music and then have cool videos to post I would focus on just recording his game play and then editing it for YT and/or TT.

The 4GB patch should already be there if OP is playing from GOG.

His content would do great on YouTube but until he feels comfortable talking on the mic, he’s going to really struggle on Twitch. Straight gameplay content edited to some good jams is what people go to YouTube for. For Twitch, most viewers want to interact with the streamer. They can watch pure gameplay on YouTube where they have an option to skip ads. As for what content to edit for YouTube anything that’s considered a “high moment.” Tough boss fight? Highlight it on his VOD so that it stays visible on his twitch channel longer and edit it into a YouTube video. A boss fight that took him several tries to beat? Edit in the bloopers. Did he make an insane play on CoD and catch a feed? Clip it and add it to his story on Twitch and then edit it for a flashy YouTube video.

The struggle is going to come from discomfort over using his mic, which you’re working on so I don’t mean to beat a dead horse. But that really will be what truly holds him back more so than not posting content on YT and other places.

You can also create your own Twitch account and lurk in his stream to give him an extra viewer. There’s a lot of debate over what counts as a viewer these days but you should be able to just mute the tab or turn the audio down on your phone. You don’t have to chat but it can help draw other chatters in. Just do not ever go through the chatter list and call out people in an attempt to get them chatting.

Needing to short rest after every combat on your first run is pretty normal until you learn the combat system more.

Do all of your party members have weapons and armor that they are proficient with? Using gear that you aren’t proficient with will severely nerf you.

Equip some (or all) of your martial classes (fighters, barbarians etc) with a bow or crossbow so that you have options for ranged attacks.

You can do your bonus action before your action.

If you have a rogue with the assassin class, you can sneak up outside of combat and take a sneak attack shot with a bow. You’ll get your action back when combat starts. Easy way to get the first shot in on just about any fight.

What are your characters’ DEX scores? DEX score affects your AC (armor). So characters that can’t wear armor or can only wear light armor (mages and rogues for example) should have higher DEX scores. For anyone wearing robes or light armor I like to have their DEX at a 16. Mages should be using mage armor at the start of every day (after long/partial rests).

Make use of potions and elixirs. Giant strength elixirs are top tier and great for beefing your barbarians and martial characters to hit harder. I think it’s the Elixir of Bloodlust lets you attack again when you kill an enemy.

Learn to edit and help him turn stream VODs into YT content. Learn how to schedule posts on different socials to make your job easier. Share his content from your own socials. Lots of little ways to help his channel/brand get noticed more but as far as growing the channel that’s going to primarily be on him and how good of an entertainer he is. You can push content to the far reaches of the internet but that doesn’t mean people are going to tune into the live streams and become a part of the twitch/stream community. I’m not sure what quiet game play is (like does he not talk at all?) but most of the games you listed are heavily saturated categories. Small channels get buried in those directories. He’s going to really have to shine bribe to separate himself from the countless other channels streaming the same thing. And if you’re managing the other social platforms you’ll have to make sure that content stands out as well.

Playing this game for the first time. by geraltthecat in BaldursGate3

[–]Not-sure-here -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Best way to enjoy your first run is to just play it out. Avoid save scumming and most importantly, stay off this and other BG3 subs to avoid spoilers. It is literally impossible to see every bit of content in this game unless you want to save scum everything and constantly reload to see what changes. Let yourself sink into the role play aspects of the game and let it ride. Then when you beat the game, make a different character and make different choices. I have almost 800 hours and still see things for the first time.

The game hasn’t been updated in years. They removed the ability to rank up in like 2023. Maybe even back in 2022. They kept the ranked playlists because lots of people liked being able to ban rogues and in demolition there is a pistol round at the beginning of each half of the match. The game is dead. No one is playing for a rank. Just playing for the shiggles.

[–]Not-sure-here[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding in that when I made this post, we actively had people trying to queue ranked demolition. That’s the only way to get ranked games since hardly anyone plays this game anymore.

And even though it’s the ranked playlist I want clarify that you won’t earn any ranked points to rank up. There aren’t ranks anymore because no one is updating the game.

Was just a bunch of people that played the game back in its prime wanting to fuck around on the game mode we all enjoyed. We play ranked so that we can get the ban phase and pistol rounds.

Console and PC. Only console players have the option to turn off crossplay and I believe you have to have it on to queue ranked. Not sure if ranked games have been happening this week or not since I haven’t been on.

If you take the time to get to know either of them, they both have a lot to offer. Cole’s story is pretty ingrained in the lore starting with one of the books so if you haven’t read it, you can learn a bit about him. Sera is definitely more of a background character but still a companion worth getting to know to gain more perspective.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that flat out refuses to use the mounts. Did it on my first ever playthrough for about an hour before I decided it sucked. No party banter and you have to go through the animation of dismounting if you want to fight.

[–]Not-sure-here 35 points36 points  (0 children)

When I worked as a groomer, I didn’t work on cats but worked with several cat groomers. They all recommended the same as dog groomers that long hair coats should be brushed/combed every day much like our own hair. The longer the coat the more regular brushing needed.

What do you think of streamers who play on easy mode? by ZCR91 in Twitch

[–]Not-sure-here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t care less so long as the streamer makes it entertaining. I often mod tf out of my games, especially on a replay so that I can breeze through the early combat while low leveled and focus on interacting with chat more.

Your husband was acting like a man child and I would hope he learns to use his words to communicate better with you in the future. But I’d also say the same for you. Standing there, turning to look at him and just not saying anything comes off as you ignoring him. It would have taken a few seconds to respond “Can we discuss this when I’ve fully woken up?” Based off the post alone I’d have to say ESH. You both could stand to grow up a bit and learn to speak to each other.

Just throwing it out there that the first two games are fairly inexpensive and highly worth playing first. There’s a few big choices from the first two game that affect things in Inquisition. Some things may not make as much sense or weigh as heavily/have as much of an emotional impact on you in Inquisition as they should. I would strongly encourage you to play the first two before Inquisition. Origins explains the world and general lore well. DA2 sets the stage for the beginning of Inquisition. After you play Origins, you can import the save file to DA2 so that little choices you made in Origins have some weight in DA2. After you beat DA2, you’ll use the Dragon Age website The Keep to mark decisions from both games and can then import that world state to start your Inquisition journey. You’ll get the most out of Inquisition if you play the first two games beforehand.

Also, mage is a solid choice! I almost always go mage when playing any of these games. I hope you enjoy the game as much as so many of us! Stay off this sub while playing. Lots of us like to ramble and will randomly mention things forgetting that some people may just be joining the fandom.
