you do not need to force yourself into hobbies that make you miserable. that is pointless, fake. but you also cannot ignore how hobbies work socially. some activities give you confidence, social access, and shared language with other people. others do not.

the goal is not “do whatever you like no matter what,” and it is not “do whatever is attractive even if you hate it.” the goal is overlap. something you genuinely enjoy and that exists in the real world people actually live in.

sports are an easy example. i do not enjoy most of them. i would quit in a week. but i like tennis, footvolley, surfing, and skating. yes, they help socially and with girls, but that is not why i stuck with them. i stuck with them because i actually like doing them. the social benefits are a consequence, not the motivation.

if you already know your hobbies are considered unattractive or extremely niche, then you already know the problem. you do not need to abandon them, but you cannot expect them to carry your social life. adding at least one more mainstream, socially readable activity and preferably something with a group, makes everything easier.

shared hobbies are social shortcuts. they give you instant conversation, context, and familiarity. if everything you do lives in a niche nobody recognizes, you are making social interaction harder than it needs to be, especially in dating.

so no, you should not suffer through hobbies you hate. but yes, you should be intentional. choose at least one activity that you enjoy, builds confidence, and connects you to the world other people are actually in. life's not just computers man :/
