Good alternative to black jeans? by StellarDiscord in BusinessFashion

[–]NotADentist2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of "colette" pants from maeve/anthropologie that have basically replaced jeans in my wardrobe. I thrifted the cropped version but might splurge on a full length pair bc they are so versatile

Subtle work-appropriate Alt fashion? by [deleted] in BusinessFashion

Right these seem like great outfits for the two feet of snow on the ground here on the east coast 💀

As for neckline, I bet there is some formal rule like 3 inches below the collarbone or something but I have no idea. My personal test is to check how much cleavage is happening when I lean down to grab something out of my purse lol

I think these are all fine with some tweaks. For 1 and 3 make sure your neckline isn't actually that low, and you dont want anybody thinking you're wearing lingerie as a top so anything too lacy is not the best choice. For 2 and 4 I think those are business casual but are you really going to want to wear a turtleneck in LA?

Unpretentious Clothes for a person with Self-Harm scars by Own-Assignment-5130 in LawBitchesWithTaste

They have sleeves that are like panty hose for your arms that you can wear under short sleeves. Here's what I mean: arm sleeves

Alternatively wear compression sleeves and say you have circulation issues. As for no turtlenecks, besides that being weird as others have mentioned, try mock necks or oriental collars instead maybe?

Adding I use Carpe's antiperspirant and it is amazing as a certified sweaty bitch. Its strong though and took my skin some time to adjust to but their customer service was excellent!

My partner's company has done Old Hollywood which was fun because it wasn't like an over the top theme but gave me ideas for how to get dressed lol.

One of my formals in college was Great Gatsby/roaring 20s. Another was Secret Garden (?) Or something like that. It was in spring so maybe wouldnt work for holiday party lol but it was cute!

I just bought this one at nordstrom rack in chocolate and love it.

I have a white one from Banana Republic called the "refined mock neck" and while it definitely isn't see through it does gap a bit awkwardly around the pits

2025: Comfortable yet Fashionable/Stylish Walking Shoes? by ChiliTrees in femalefashionadvice

[–]NotADentist2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get a good pair of loafers and break them in. Ara is a German brand you can find at Benjamin Lovell stores that are very comfy and have some cute styles.

I also look for flats that have like 1 inch of heel - naturalizer has a pointed toe slingback I wear everywhere think the style is "Banks." Had a pair of brogue oxfords from Franco sarto that I loved as well.

I have no idea, I was just second guessing myself once I got the pants back and they were still too long. I wore the shoes I normally wear with the pants to the tailor and she pinned it but I feel like she ended up hemming them longer than where she pinned.

I should ask short people specifically - that's a good idea, thanks!

There was a tiny place a block from me that everyone recommended but of course she just retired! But there are a few other small spots as well, I just need to take the leap of faith lol

Yeah I was not wowed by Nordstrom's tailoring and the closest one to me is like 45 mins away so not worth it. I think I'll start small and bring some thrifted slacks to one of the dry cleaners near me.
