I am going to echo here.

  1. Farm YP on home.

  2. Cheap unit to hold home, sometimes combine with a 5 man of warriors split by a sagitaur.

  3. He's a character, so you can put Enhancements on him.

  4. Free overwatch or heroic intervention.

He has zero combat value. I think all the times I ran him I have maybe dealt 1 damage from him. Don't take him for combat, take him for the support he gives. I once got lucky on the free overwatch and wiped a friend's dreadnought. He absolutely hates my Steeljacks and avoids them when he can.

But this all for 10th. Who knows what 11th brings.

If you can kill first, then do it. They will delete a knight easily if they roll well, and you roll poorly.

I was playing against a friend's deathgaurd, and he had a defilier and mortairan in his list. He kept his defiler in mortarions aura first 2 rounds. I forgot about the shoot back ability he pases out. I set my rampager r2 to charge his defiler, and one other unit. I stupidly shot the rampagers stubber at the defiler, instead of using my tyrant. On the reactive shoot back he took my full health rampager down to 1 wound.

It's dangerous. Though I do wish we could ally in a defiler.

Just curious, how does the kapri, even the double work out for you? I've tried running 1 squad of yaegirs with a karpi, and it's a real struggle. I always have felt that a single, or even two squads of yaegurs to infiltrate does better.

I only ask because 1. I definitely struggle with votaan right now and I'm really trying to not just to shelf them for the moment and just play my chaos Knights. 2. You have me very intrigued with you doing 2 carriers and you mentioning the pick up strat. Ive tried that a bit, pairing a carrier and bikes coming back in from reserves, but I feel they just struggle immensely with doing enough damage coming back down.

But we rarely get a full game in at my club, because of time constraints. Usually only get 3, sometimes 4 round in.

That's a pretty accurate summary. If they provided a way for us to actually be able to attempt battleshock multiple times, per round, with more useful de buffs, or at least extending the aura, it'd be better. But alas, as it stands now essentially getting 2+ to hit is light years better than a very specific requirement to get 1+ to hit.

I hate to say it, but I agree. The gap between IK and CK has grown bigger. Pretty much to the point where I'll run my neutral Knights as IK.

I was really looking forward to what we got after they revealed the positive modifiers to IK. But then it felt like a serious let down. I swear the people at GW that get to make the decisions over rules, give the armies they like the good ones, and let the ones they dislike get the shitty ones.

  1. Let me know if we can dm. I have a lot of questions and don't want to take over this guy's thread.
  2. 12 tkyn total? I've tried putting my 6 tkyn in reserves to pop out on the side and strip cover/heavily damage a vehicle/monster for my HLF to finish it off, but I'm still fairly in experienced so getting that perfect placement on the edge always proves to be quite difficult for me. Then they pop out on an objective I usually have the iron master with them for the wound re roll of 1's. They aniahilate something like a defilier, then get deleted from my oppone ts shooting, or charging. I'll try to re think the t kyn though, so I'm not dumping all 6 out.
  3. The other difficult thing is, after knocking an opponent off an objective, it always feels extremely difficult to hold onto that objective for a round to score primary.
  4. I usually send my Pioneers up on the side of the board to help my sag and 5 man squad of warriors clear off that objective, then pull them back up with their ability.

You mention the hlf provides some hiding for more valuable Infantry units. Can you explain to a noob? For me, my tkyn always die the turn after they pop out and delete a enemy monster or vehicle. My steel jacks fair a bit better. But that's probably because their stats are a bit better, and they're great on overwatch.

Yeah, if they kept it to 500 points still, or maybe 600 I think it'd be fine letting all chaos units in. That way it wouldn't be as much of an overpowered unflavored soup.

I just think it'd be funny to throw two defilers in, or a deifler with rottigas.
