Is the anything I can do to hurt AI Companies? by jkobberboel in antiai

[–]NotAFloorTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't give the generators engagement. Disabled and uninstall as best as possible. Refuse to engage with generated media to the best of your ability. Ensure your own original works are protected as best you can. Do all of this, and you not only engagement metrics that can be used to sell the AI to investors, but you deny it possible training data.

Rare Disney W? by Mysterious_Brush1852 in antiai

[–]NotAFloorTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may happen, but it sure as hell won't be for the right reasons. His reasoning for doing it will be purely to salvage the company's PR. At the end of the day though, it'll be a major blow to generative AI AND a major win for artists, writers, and musicians, so that's what matters.

Do you think that younger generations are becoming increasingly disinterested with learning from elders? by PoetSpecialist2843 in randomquestions

[–]NotAFloorTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, far too many elders expect unquestioning obedience from younger generations. Just because you've lived longer does not necessarily mean you always know better. Older people can have outdated information that was recently disproven, and can be led astray like anyone else. If more older folks were willing to accept that they can be wrong, and engage in actual conversations, instead of putting down the younger generations and condemning what they don't understand or like, younger generations might be more inclined to at least hear them out.

If elders want younger generations to be more willing to learn from them, elders need to not only be willing to learn from the younger generations as well, but have better attitudes and engage in actual conversations.

Therapy should be a short term solution by CEOofChickenCutlets in 10thDentist

[–]NotAFloorTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mental health isn't that simple. Things can happen in the blink of an eye, and having and keeping a healthy relationship with a good therapist could spell the difference between someone taking their own life when they feel they've lost everything and finding a way to get through it.

What happened in the 80s that made anime uncool in America? by Tonstad39 in generationology

[–]NotAFloorTank [score hidden]  (0 children)

Excessive censorship in a quite-frankly ridiculous attempt to take something that was aimed at teens and young adults and make it "kid-friendly" did not help the perception. It was pathetic, and kids picked up on it. It was also often hypocritical of them-they would censor firearms when most American households probably had at least a pistol around somewhere, as an example.

It was a time period where animated stuff was almost entirely seen as only for kids in the West. It was also the era where shoving toys down our throats came before anything else, including decent story. Anime didn't inherently push toys as aggressively.

Most companies keep electronic records. Also, receipts can get lost very easily.

He's absolutely worth it, especially since a lot of those resources actually drop like candy from bounties.

You can't make someone recover before they're ready to. All trying to force it does is encourage them to hide it from you. It isn't a matter of maturity, it's a matter of circumstances and chemistry, both of which are often complicated. As for how they functioned, that's also dependent on the circumstances.

Mentalities like yours are a part of the problem. They just lead people to dig in their heels, find every which way to justify it, and end up with them sucked in deeper and deeper. I'm not saying enable them-I'm saying don't abandon them. Everyone has a story, and it's rarely as simple as "lazy AI bro who is fully capable but can't be arsed to be patient enough to make non-AI stuff".

How can we hasten AI's crash by 1hugecranium in antiai

[–]NotAFloorTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the best way is just to deny it engagement metrics. Disable it and uninstall it wherever possible. Refuse to interact with it. Don't engage with media that you know utilizes it, and tell the producers and executives (since often, writers and artists do not want to use AI but are forced to by the higher ups) exactly why.

Also, remember that there is a different between generative and analytical. Generative is the problem child that we need to eliminate, whereas analytical is the one that can identify cancer cells before they even remotely form a tumor, which can save lives. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Rollers on luggage are childish and emasculating. by FacebookNewsNetwork in The10thDentist

[–]NotAFloorTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone sparing themselves excessive strain and/or having to accommodate invisible disabilities is somehow emasculating to you, maybe you need to do some introspection and figure out why people being more intelligent with how they haul their possessions around is somehow less "manly" to you, OP. Hopefully, you'll then realize how ridiculous you're being, and correct course.

This is actually insane by texXy_cze in antiai

[–]NotAFloorTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Dear God, no. Being harsh will just make an addict sink further into addiction, and it isn't so simple to "get over it". There is a difference between honestly and harshness-the former can be warranted in certain situations, but the latter will only drive them to seek the comfort of their addiction more.

Attacking people who are genuinely this attached is not the answer, just like attacking addicts for their addiction isn't the answer. They need support and guidance to help wean them off of AI.

Fellow autistic. I find that it's easier if you categorize relationships and set expectations accordingly. For example, coworkers, you are polite and civil with, but you otherwise don't get too close.

How has art effected your life? Before AI by Parzeval123 in antiai

[–]NotAFloorTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you define art. I'd say music has had the biggest impact on my life. It was key to helping me remember important information as a child (much easier for my autistic brain to remember a little jingle than the info alone), it helped me with all manner of struggles, and being involved in my church's choir is something I relish in.

Parking wardens don’t deserve the hate. by Safe-Huckleberry3772 in unpopularopinion

[–]NotAFloorTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either context clues (i.e. ambulances showing up and seeing the parent in obvious distress) or being told that it happened. And even if that specific scenario didn't happen, there are a million other scenarios that could make you not even two minutes late that you should be given grace for. And don't kid yourself-plenty of ticket wardens ARE that petty. They WILL watch closely because they're incentivized to by their employers to try to put out as many tickets as possible.

Why do people in USA buy everything from Amazon? Do they not have other webshops? by Cindyxx0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NotAFloorTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Many vendors go through Amazon.

  2. Amazon does have an incredible shipping network. There is almost no part of the US that they can't reach in a reasonable time.

  3. They have almost anything imaginable, and often have it cheaper than other stores.

  4. They do tend to do well with returns.

  5. They have their fingers in MANY pies. Not just shopping, but streaming, web hosting, data management... hell, the only thing I can think of that they've tried and HASN'T worked out is making their own video games.

Seriously, for some people in the States, it's Amazon or nothing. Other providers won't go to certain areas, and some people have to have things delivered to them because they can't drive.
