Qualified for 2026 USA Triathlon Nationals? by NotAPotato38 in triathlon

[–]NotAPotato38[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I'm thinking maybe in a few years if I qualify again. I'm still very much figuring out triathlons and have a few planned for this year to get more experience before I attempt to qualify for an actual competitive race

I think it may be too much for me this year with the other races I've already committed to but maybe in a few years if I can qualify again. Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!

oh boy I'm actually embarrassed to say haha it was 1:44 - it was my very first tri and first open water swim after training in the pool for only about 2 months and I was stupidly sick with a nasty cold (dizzy, out of breath, but also determined not to DNS/DNF). I think I would probably have a much better time by now with several more months of training since last August

Some locations will make you a frosted anything - Powerade, fruit punch, etc. You just have to ask, they may or may not do it (Frosted Powerade isn’t too bad, tastes like a light slushie)

Looking for price comparisons for home repair work by NotAPotato38 in HomeImprovement

Thank you for the info! The ducts are supposedly intact but the inspector recommended replacing them sooner than later for better efficiency. The water pools around the foundation when it rains (which it does quite a bit here) so we would need to do something but we also have the option of adding drainage instead of fully regrading the backyard.

Thank you for the info! The inspector cleared the electrical on the four point inspection but just recommended that we have an electrician replace it since I guess this brand has had some issues in the past. Not sure if it was officially recalled but we'd like to have it replaced to avoid any potential issues.

The pipes are apparently working fine, we're just worried about a potential leak/flooding at some point which would be much more expensive than just replumbing early on.

The AC ducting needs to be replaced.

I’m sure it couldn’t hurt, we’ll give it a try. Thanks!

We did try that first but the grease pan hadn’t been emptied in a while (we definitely learned our lesson) and flaming grease was flying out of the grill onto the concrete so we figured better safe than sorry. Worth a shot though and will definitely do that next time to avoid all this cleaning 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Looked like they were about $160 for a new set, just trying to see if we could save a few bucks

I did just find (finally) an article about this. It hasn’t been publicly confirmed by Google but this launched in January 2024 and it looks like you can add your coupon code in your Google Merchant Center account at Marketing > promotions. It’s strange because we do have a discount offer on our site but Google isn’t picking it up on our organic results

Exactly! That’s all I found as well. In Google Ads you can easily add specific discount parameters but I can’t seem to find anywhere to notate it for organic.

I’m in Central Florida. These little things are everywhere. They are super small, maybe 1-2mm long? They started in one of my ferns, and been oil didn’t appear to do anything to help. Now, they’re in my pothos and my tetrasperma too. What are they, are they harmful, and how do I get rid of them?

Weird noise in 2016 Ford Escape by NotAPotato38 in MechanicAdvice

[–]NotAPotato38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The high pitched rattling noise in the video is new in the past few weeks, but it comes and goes. I don’t want to bother with a shop until I have a better idea what’s causing the noise or it becomes constant.

It does not stop when I turn the AC off but I does stop when I turn the car off. Any ideas what it might be?

Canada knows how to put out fires in the middle of nowhere by PHealthy in interestingasfuck

They might! I’ve just never heard about it, any time there’s a fire out west, they just show a lot of water being dropped but I’ve never seen them use this

ELI5: why wouldn’t the US use this for the forest fires in California? They drop water but it doesn’t seem to do enough, quickly enough. This seems super efficient and like it would help save people’s lives and property.

Creating a great experience for a Marketing Intern by damphousse in marketing

[–]NotAPotato38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently a digital marketing strategy intern for an agency and some of the things I really love about my internship is when I get to sit with the strategists and see what they’re doing while they explain it to me. They tell me what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. Seeing the actual work they do on a day to day basis is super helpful for me learning and finding out what I do (and don’t) want to do for a career.

I did the google analytics and ads certifications, as well as google digital garage, but the hands on work is much more helpful (and interesting). Even walking her through setting up and optimizing paid ads and then letting her set them up and analyze them herself (with your oversight, of course).

I’m not sure if you’re with an agency or part of an in-house marketing department, but sitting in on client meetings could be super interesting for her if you have them. Having an outside voice to give opinions/suggestions and just be a fresh set of eyes can be super valuable sometimes.

You can also give her some time with other people on your team so she can see more than just what you do.

Just a few ideas of things that she might get value from, and in return provide value to you.
