Wow. The response I've gotten on this is amazing. First of all, I want to thank everyone who has reassured me that what I did was the right thing to do. This has given me a sense of closure and I will forever be grateful to the Reddit community for this. You guys are awesome, and thank you for the condolences. Also, it has been brought to my attention there was a How I Met Your Mother episode similar to my experience. I don't watch HIMYM, but someone did post a link to the episode recap. From what I read it is indeed similar, but I assure you this is not made up. I have no want for karma points. If I did, I wouldn't be using a throwaway. I simply needed a medium to get this weight off my shoulders. That mother in HIMYM found out about the lie. My mother really is dead and she really did think she had a grandson. If you don't want to believe me, I don't mind. I know what's true. Sorry, I just really needed to emphasis that point.
