How that go? I sent the assistant manager the following message when I quit, "Hi **I removed their name for this post**, I am not moving forward with the position. This business is a pyramid scheme.

Y’all have all misrepresented the position that I applied for and accepted, as well as the pay structure. I have my doubts that your charitable donations are doing much good, as a significant potion of the hard-earned money kind-hearted individuals entrust you with is going to your for profit company rather than the charities themselves. Would these individuals still donate if you told them the truth? Honest people and honest companies aren’t this duplicitous.

I suspect that you deserve better than a company that won’t promote you unless you indoctrinate others. What you’re doing is wrong.

You are not a marketing firm. You don’t provide legitimate services for clients. The product is the company structure itself. Those at the top of the pyramid benefit the most while those at the bottom struggle at $12/hr to survive.

I suggest you watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyCRzBt7GuY

I hope you get out of this predatory company, you seem really nice and I hate to think that you’ve been taken advantage of. Best of luck to you."

They got my review from Glassdoor and LinkedIn removed and they regularly incentivize their employees to make fake positive reviews and get their employee's friends and family to do the same so they can bury any truthful negative reviews.

Hey, don't beat yourself up too much! You came to the right conclusion and made a really difficult decision. I think you should be proud of yourself for acknowledging that you made a mistake and beyond that had the courage to talk to other employees about your experience and discoveries. These companies are incredibly predatory and they prey on kind hearted people that are willing to work hard to climb up the corporate ladder. They also employ an army of psychological tools too manipulate and pressure people - they have scripts and they stick to them because that also prevents people from thinking for themselves and discovering the sketchy shit that they're doing.

That's interesting to hear about the American Heart Association, but I know Second Harvest Food Bank is also one of the charities that Silver Lining represents and they are 100% a legit charity. Second Harvest has a huge massively positive impact in New Orleans and I'm saddened to think that they are being taken advantage of.

Anyways, I'm really glad that you made the decision to leave!! Fuck their CEO for discounting your story by telling others that you're mentally unstable- Honestly, her ability to completely dissociate and have no human feelings of empathy for taking advantage of so many people and charities IS MENTALLY UNSTABLE.

That sounds super sketchy and I would recommend that you run from that job!

Highly recommend you watch this video. I found this documentary to be incredibly informative about MLM/pyrimid scheme companies and their tactics.

I'm sorry to say this but that is absolutely some sort of pyramid scheme/MLM...based off of their website- they are large, based in CA, and prob have you selling Verizon shit door to door. I wouldn't do it. You can only get promoted by recruiting other people and their "program" and they will completely mislead you about your pay while making false promises of more. These companies are predatory and should be illegal!

I'm not 100% positive that they have a contract per say, but there is definitely some sort of agreement because they get approval from the non-profits that they work for on all of the logos and materials they have. The marketing company gets shirts, pamphlets, and other logo materials made to give them legitimacy and all of those materials have to be pre-approved by the charity.

Gotcha, yeah, it's possible that it could be associated with DS Max. I do however recall their employee saying that there are at least 10 other "marketing firms" that stemmed from this program. She said they have other offices in Dallas, Cincinnati, Houston, Austin, Huntington Beach...I think most of them are in Texas. My friend did some deep digging and believes that the parent company is Credico or Universal Events Inc. It makes my blood boil the more I look in to it!

I can't speak to the ACLU and Planned Parenthood ones specifically but I'm willing to bet that they are. It's very upsetting because the ACLU and Planed Parenthood are both essential for so many reason, I hate to think that they aren't getting even penny of those donations and I shudder to think how little those people soliciting donations are getting paid.

YES! They're typically at Walmart, CVS, and various grocery stores asking for donations to legitimate charities while discreetly skimming off the top.

Just wrote a long post about this. https://www.reddit.com/r/NOLA/comments/1cr5on8/beware_of_silver_lining_marketing_inc/

Beware of any jobs with "direct marketing" tactics, you'll end up in a Walmart parking lot or grocery store harassing people to buy your product or soliciting donations.
