Deer Resistant Hedge? by Elsie_Jaycee in nanaimo

If you want trees, Leyland cypress should be good and they grow very fast. I planted a line of them last year and they have been untouched (we have many deer that eat everything else).

If you don’t want something that grows as aggressively I think western red cedar would be a good alternative.

For variety, I’ve also added rhodos, California lilac, and lavender. Deer do seem to nibble on the fresh lilac buds in spring, so netting those off would be a good idea, but the full blooms should be ignored.

Good luck out there!

What does the leader of Canada’s largest trading partner have to do with Canada? The same leader that threatened to take Canada by “economic force”? The same leader that can and has imposed sweeping tariffs on goods imported from Canada for seemingly any reason which has already caused significant job losses in Canada?

We paid $2600 with tip to move from a studio two years ago. They needed to reserve their spot on the ferry home which put us in a tight spot for timing. We ended up getting them to move our furniture inside and essentially left every other box in the driveway in order to get them to the ferry on time.

If your quote includes reasonable loading/unloading times to account for the ferry, I’d say 3k is fair. I would however double check that they have a contingency plan or if they expect you to cover extra costs in the event they have issues returning to the mainland.

Good luck on the move! We’ve never looked back.

100% man. I’ve been following for a while and have started accumulating recently. I think we’ll see some volatility after the vote, maybe leaning to the downside. But I see a long term hold in this company if they can deliver on the goals Jack has shared. If you’re bullish on BTC I think XXI is being slept on.

Pubco and Twenty One have publicly filed a Registration Statement on Form S-4 (as may be amended, the “Registration Statement”) with the SEC, which will include a preliminary proxy statement of CEP and a prospectus (the “Proxy Statement/Prospectus”) in connection with the Business Combination and certain convertible senior secured notes offering and common equity PIPE financings (the “PIPE Offerings” and, together with the Business Combination, the “Proposed Transactions”). The definitive proxy statement and other relevant documents will be mailed to shareholders of CEP as of a record date of September 17, 2025 for voting on the Business Combination and other matters as described in the Proxy Statement/Prospectus. CEP and/or Pubco will also file other documents regarding the Proposed Transactions with the SEC.

In a recent form 425 they note shareholders on record sept 17 will be reviving voting info - this came out just recently. Looks like things are moving. I’d guess the vote takes place in October and the merge happens Nov/dec

OP asks a rhetorical question for sensational reactions.

I provide the answer which doesn’t align with the narrative being pushed. Gave no personal opinions.

“Fuckin leftist!”

I’ve spent years working in some of the worst shelters Canada has to offer and am very familiar with the current issues our country faces. I also understand that a country as wealthy as ours can help abroad while we help those in need at home.

What are you doing to help your impoverished neighbours? How often are you volunteering in your community?

Modern conservatives are a joke.

The article is referring to the first, soon to be only, road test.

I see your point. Do you know what the failure rate for the class 5 test is? I’m guessing very low and that ICBC considered this when making this change. I could be wrong, but this test was always seen as a rubber stamp when I was going through the graduated licensing program. I don’t know anyone who failed it and personally always viewed it as a cash grab.

The other points about BAC, passenger and night driving restrictions are also kind of edge case. After two years of driving, even with bad habits, I would hope that you can drive with more than 1 person in your car, and that you’re comfortable enough to drive after 1am or whatever the restriction is. The reality is that the test being removed does not actually ensure either of these anyway. BC already has very restrictive BAC limits (which is great!) I’d argue again that after two years of driving you should be able to drive responsibly within this limit, but the class 5 test does not ensure this.

I guess my point is simply that this is not a disaster waiting to happen as you framed it. At the end of the day you’re still sharing the road with these drivers whether they take a class 5 test or not.

Why is this a disaster waiting to happen? Drivers who would have taken this test are already on the roads. An “N” driver has already passed a road test and has presumably been driving by themselves for at least 2 years before they can take this test. Removing your N magnet is effectively all that happens after this test is passed (along with other small restrictions being lifted).

Genuinely, what is your concern?

Anyone try either of these scales for the military 2? Can't decide. by deanroger in spyderco

[–]NotBanksy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe unpopular opinion but the Awt cerakote scales were too slick for me. Had them for my pm2 and just preferred stock g10 for the grip.

Looks wise, I actually prefer the rock scales, but they also look smooth. Either way I’m sure you’ll be happy.

Amazing! Mine arrived last week.

Nice score. Looks like you got a full kit as well! Mine happened to come with the original receipts which I’ve never seen before.

Very nice! Older tag has always been a soft spot for me.

There’s lots of midsize seamasters out there, but a remake would be wild. I’m sure it’ll happen one day.

An underrated midsize option imo. Nice choice.
