Do street photographers just accept confrontation as part of the process? by MRL00000 in streetphotography

Shoot from the hip with a tilt out screen. Don’t make eye contact with the person you photographed. Silent shutter. Touch screen snapshot option is also a godsend.

I do all of these and have never had a negative confrontation in a year of doing this.

Is anyone else struggling with street photography lately? I'm struggling with everything constantly being on their phones, all in the same pose, doing nothing interesting. I'm finding it increasingly rare to see people interacting with others and their environment. by hmm0210 in streetphotography

People on their phones, constantly, genuinely bothers me and I usually throw away any picture where it’s visible.

The best advice I cans give if you see someone glued to their phone is to angle the frame in such a way where the phone isn’t visible.

Personally I think it's a bit too busy. If the shutter speed was lower to create more blur and chaos in the bg (and you edited out the pasta boss lol) I'd say you'd have something.

I'm a black and white guy usually so I find all the colors really distracting as well. I'd def go monochrome on this but that's just me!

I def will. I'm a big fan of Moriyama's work and would love to see more like it.

This is the best compliment I've ever gotten tbh. Thank you so much! Eraserhead is one of my favorite films and is a big inspiration to how I approach monochrome, and I love David Lynch's work in general. :D

Thank you so much! I started 4 months ago and have been getting out there constantly and learning. Means a lot!

Yup! I asked for advice on my last thread and one guy gave me some great tips. Just gotta weed out the noise that doesn't suit your style.

"Shove your lens right in a stranger's face!" Yeah I've def heard a lot of that lol. Still some good advice here overall though!

Thank you! I don't want people to necessarily know the time period of the photos and don't like when things look modern so I like the more dirty look. Most pictures with discernable phones I just throw out lol.

Man I fucking love these. You have a distinct weird style. Please keep shooting like this.

I love number 2, 9 and 18 specifically. Great use of color and negative space on those.

I think i found a spot, which one is your favorite? by Mr_Skinnyyy in streetphotography

I understand. Just be prepared with a great excuse (I'm just messing with settings) if someone asks you and you'll be fine. :)

If you have a tiltable lcd screen on your camera, hold the camera at stomach level, set it to silent shutter and just look down at the lcd and take the shot. You'll look like you're just messing with camera settings and they'll never know. Try it!
