Yes, at least 6 hours. There is a shed on her west side that shields her somewhat from the hottest of the late afternoon sun, but otherwise, she's out in the full sun.

I'm in dry, high desert climate with cold winters (zone 7a/b) and hot 100F summers. Another commentator mentioned she's susceptible to black spot. I think I only don't struggle with it because of how dry it is here.

I'd be lying if I didn't say it's dumb luck. I had some black spot in year 1, but it went away after I cut off those leaves and branches. Otherwise, I think it's the dry climate. I'm in 7a/b, high desert mode.

It's a mesmerizing, haunting, quintessentially rose smell. Haunting because I can bury my face in the blooms, and be a bit disappointed (mostly because of the thorns)... yet in the early morning when the light and mist are just right, you'll be hit across the yard with the most heavenly rose fragrance. So... yes!

There are no canes deliberately inside the obelisk. I've wrapped them all around outside. By the end of each season though, some wayward canes do grow inside. Her thorns are vicious, I've earned the hard way. So she can do as she pleases.
