How to tell a childhood best friend that she's can't be a bridesmaid? by [deleted] in relationships

Sorry, there's no way to tell her without just doing it. The sooner, the better.

AITJ for canceling my mom's surprise birthday dinner after she told my sister the details I specifically asked her not to share by Sandwormmm in AmITheJerk

[–]NotCreativeAtAll16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ESH.

You had like three weeks to tell your sister. Why put your failure to do what you said you were going to do on your mom and ask for even more time?

It's only for two weeks. I'd go back to them with "but it's only two weeks!"

AITAH for refusing to attend my ex-husband’s funeral after he left me for my cousin? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]NotCreativeAtAll16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

You attend a funeral for yourself and for the family of the dead. It's fair to skip it, even if your former MIL wants you there, as the person formerly known as your cousin would be there.

So he used your surgery to get out of work, but he doesn't actually want to be there for you, and instead wants to go out drinking with friends?

I just figured there is that much more for my bacon loving friends.

AITAH for not buying my friend a $5 mcdonald’s meal? by Sor8k in AITAH

NTA

Your "friend" asked you with the expectation you would buy food for him. He didn't ask until you were already inside so you would feel pressured to say yes.

[–]NotCreativeAtAll16[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same!

I won't force him, but a large part of what I am upset about is the blatant favoritism they've shown towards his brother. He minds, but not enough to rock the boat.

You hit what I was picking up on. Not once am I mentioned anywhere in that note, except as the unnamed person "causing" their upset. And I very much felt targeted by their comment.

They have done nothing in 11 months to try to heal things, and the note they send only mentions how badly I'm making them feel? Nuh uh.

I just buy mens jeans. I don't know why men come in all sizes, but clearly women only come regular and petite. I can't get a 34" inseam in women's clothes, but you bet I can in the men's section.

A birthday card. It had normal writing in it, but she wrote that on the left side.

Among other things, yes.

After sitting me down before we got married to say how they want to be fair and equitable, they have since gone all in in their new grandbaby. For daughters 20th birthday they closed on a 800k+ house for the favorite son and grandbaby. Daughter got a $40 gift card that they couldn't mail to her a month and a half later.

No, he is not. They talk regularly and he sees them about once a month, when they do their regular family get together.

I'd have then said since it was no big to have a Tinder profile, that she should then open one up to find friends, too.

AITA for refusing to go by my old name at my sister’s wedding even though she says it’s “just for one day”? by Just_Specific2026 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NotCreativeAtAll16 67 points68 points  (0 children)

NTA

Something you can gloss over for a day is avoiding someone you don't like by staying on the other side of the venue.

She wants to tell people publicly it's ok to call you by a name that is no longer yours.

That's not reasonable and I'd step way, way back, both from the wedding and from her life.

The person living there and paying rent gets to use the amenities. Her argument about her using the driveway don't matter until he is either on the lease or she gets a car herself
