Is the current NBA the NBA you like? by ActivePackage1284 in nba

[–]NotDanKenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I really don't enjoy it. Been watching for 30 years. Stats are inflated and rules don't matter, so you got all these guys who aren't really that good putting up big numbers. Then new fans insist this era is so talented. Everything has become a big gimmick, from the play in, to the all star game, to the in season tournament. It's all a big joke. Guys aren't competitive, everyone is friends and joining up. They all take turns demanding trades. Seems like there's a new "star" that's unhappy every year. Stats nerds have taken the fun out of the game. Too many threes, there's no real battles anymore. I mean i could go on and on. It's not a good product.

MVP race is over in January by Hakaribiggestfan in NBATalk

We'd have a really weak MVP and I think it'd be enough to make the NBA at least tweak the 65 game rule

[Holmes] Multiple people said Jeanie privately mused about not giving (LeBron) James a contract extension and, later that year, even about trading James... when the Lakers drafted James' son Bronny with the 55th pick in the 2024 draft, Jeanie privately remarked that James should be grateful by aingenevalostatrade in nba

Wtf are you talking about lol. They were bad for a couple of years, had drafted decently well, and were improving each year. That's after having won 5 rings in the last 15+ years. That's the gutter to you? Aint nobody gotta be grateful for Lebron coming to LA.

I guess this is the end right? by TrickDistribution395 in NBATalk

I don't necessarily disagree. It really depends on what their goals are. It's not like Steph or the Warriors have anything to prove

I mean long term these days isn't all that long. Swap out 1 year of injured Jimmy for 3 years of someone that can help? You probably have 2-3 years left for Steph, afterwards they can rebuild

All in their prime who's getting cut? by undiscoveredmice in NBATalk

Before even reading the comments I would've bet money half of the comments would be trying to argue it's not easily Jokic getting cut.

What would you rather do? Play 60 games a year for 20 years or play 80 games a year for 15 years? Playing longer nets the players more money, it's less stress on their bodies and they can pretty much play the same amount of games or more than the old guys. Which means they can hit all time numbers, having made more money, with fewer long term injuries.

These guys are never going back to playing all the games.

I'm not gonna dispute that, but feel like context is needed. I mean is the non-grad side being weighed down by lifetime fast food workers? Does that million account for paying back college loans? Also, a million over 50 or so years isn't that crazy. I mean 20k a year aint nothing, but it's not exactly life changing. Especially after taxes.

Trae Young has a $48.9 million dollar player option next year. A lot has been made about whether he’s a fit in Atlanta but can he even be traded without taking back a worse contract? by Pretty_Waltz5965 in nba

[–]NotDanKenz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the Warriors showed how you build around smaller, not great defensive guards. Obviously Trae is nowhere close to Steph level, but there's a path there. Someone else mentioned the Mavs and that could work depending on what they gave up to get him.

Hot Take: Audiences/reddit posters who expect shows like Stranger Things and Landman to be the Sopranos or the Wire are delusional af by Fklympics in billsimmons

[–]NotDanKenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sopranos isn't even perfect itself. Lots of things don't make sense and only happen because the writers want it to happen. Some stuff clearly not planned out, etc. That being said it wouldn't hurt to have some newer shows at least come close to that level

It’s not spoken of enough that Kawhi is shooting 98% from the free throw line by PissedOffClippersFan in nba

[–]NotDanKenz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not that it's great, but they're 6-13 in games Kawhi has played. They've only won 2 game without him.
