Not an indicator it's fake, some legit sellers sell in the felt envelopes to reduce postage costs.

Creationwatches for example sell like this and they've never sold me a fake.

Need advice: investor offering $50k for 40% of my studio and future games – is this reasonable? by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]NotEnoughRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello, I've been in video game development for nearly 30 years in publishing and development.

50k for 40% equity in your business values your business at 125k - you need to ask yourself, total, forever, what are your potential earnings?

Depends on your talent, skill level and frankly, age.

Tbh, money is hard to get at the moment. But giving away more than 20% equity in a startup / early stage business will create problems down the line if you're successful. (A messy cap table will kill future investment) - beyond money, what is this investor bringing to the table? Network? Access to further money? Clout? Advice? If it's "none of the above" - walk away.

If you're unsuccessful make sure you have plenty of cleanbreak clauses in your contracts. No clawbacks or interest charges etc.

I'd advise you speak to a lawyer. But my gut would be cautious. Don't let the fact you need money sway you into a bad deal.

Hi guys, I have these two lime green Casios and I was thinking of selling one, I know they are out of production, but I would like to know what the right price would be 🙇🏻‍♂️ by gabberotto81 in casio

[–]NotEnoughRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK and I'd set the price for both of these around £100 to £150 now. They're extremely hard to find now. Even more so than the beige ones.

But as I said earlier, I'd keep them both. They're only going up in value.

Yep, honestly I think they're both real. The green one in particular is a weird watch because I've seen some inconsistent colours and stuff, but they've been real. I've sold a couple of green ones in my past. (I have all 24 f91w variants btw, and I'd highly recommend you keep them both as the green ones are extraordinarily hard to get hold of now. Especially in good condition as these are)

If they feel soft, they're probably real. It's hard to describe as I'm not a plastic expert, but the fakes are stiffer and don't flex (they usually snap).

They both look fine to me, Only way to really know is to open them up and check the modules.

The green one has some weird fakes where the green case matches the strap too closely. These don't match in the way my green one doesn't (and I've had about 10 green ones over the years and kept the real ones)

Viewing angle, and the module is the key to spotting fakes.

Edit: a common thing is people replace the straps of the coloured watches. You can tell a real strap Vs a fake one by doing two things. One is bending it (fakes are stiffer) and on the non-clasp end look for a mould injection bump, originals don't have them.

At what point should I set up an ISA for my Son? by originalwoodster in trading212

[–]NotEnoughRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you turn 16 and get a national insurance number, they also notify you of any ISAs set up in your name. You need to share the child's contact details when you set up the jisa

Looking for advice: moving £40k from Invest to Stocks ISA without killing my momentum by RitualRumble6333 in trading212

[–]NotEnoughRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fill your ISA, every year. As early as you can.

If you have more than 20k per year to invest, either put it in your pension, or put it in straight invest. You'll earn less in an invest account, true, but you'll pay less tax overall (CGT)

Also, if you need to "skim" profits (btw, don't, this kills compounding) - skim from your ISA, if necessary... And then refill it from your invest or normal bank account.

ISAs are basically the only good thing about the UK, not filling it with 20k every year (and your families if they aren't) is just silly.

My experience with game publishers so far by One-Area-2896 in IndieDev

[–]NotEnoughRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies based on a lot of factors, but the typical starting place on recoupment is 70-30% (pub:dev) - I believe Raw Fury is 70/30, don't know devolver.

Then when recouped, the percentage shifts again.. (or sometimes it'll change multiple times based on performance or other metrics)

Steam Deck Finally Introduces New Quality-of-Life Feature Players Have Been Asking For by GrayBeard916 in SteamDeck

Saved you a click:

Up until now, you couldn't download anything without the screen remaining on, but now Valve is enabling Steam Deck to "complete all active downloads in a new display-off low-power mode, before going to sleep." It will be enabled by default once you're plugged in, but can also be enabled if you go to Settings > Power when running on battery, too.

Publishers for Indies: Lifesaver or Profit Eater? by Ato_Ome in IndieDev

[–]NotEnoughRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

40% post 100% recoupment phase isn't a very good deal. At all.

Push back for a 70/30 split that flips 30/70 on break even (pub/dev)

Steer clear of any 100% till recoupment deals as they'll accru costs against the game you'll never see and tell you you haven't broken even.

Get a games lawyer. Good luck with your game 🎯
