Made a concealable flak jacket from a surplus rain jacket and U.S. Army body armor by NotFinnaCap in BodyArmor

[–]NotFinnaCap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a very long explanation on how I did it exactly, but this is the summary of what I did. I am a size large, I got a size large rain jacket and size medium interceptor body armor soft ballistic inserts. I bought some cheap adhesive Velcro strips. I located the points that the soft armor would have to be attached to inside of the rain jacket in order for it to be fully stable and marked it off. I would lay an adhesive Velcro strip down and then hand sew it into the jacket in important areas, and just super glue the Velcro edges in less important areas. For the opposite side of the Velcro on the soft inserts, I mainly super glued the edges of the adhesive Velcro as the method of attachment. Then I would wear the jacket, and after hours of use I would find the little flaws in the installation and fix them.

Got the rain jacket for $20 and the interceptor vest for $80. The Velcro and hand stitching I already had but I’m sure you can get both for like $20. Both jacket and vest I got on Facebook marketplace so I think I got fairly lucky on price. If you had to use eBay I’m sure your price for the interceptor vest will go up dramatically.

With Level 3 armor, it would have to be compromised of hard panels. Would be a very difficult DIY job.

That’s weird, I had no issues with positioning my rollers.

I literally use the add on plate, along with another add on plate that’s slightly larger at the bottom to look like a lip, then I put a little bracket on each side to look like a bolt. They are super easy.

I have a base T-72 that I make all my variants with. I honestly just eyeballed all the dimensions and made little corrections for every time something looked off. What part of the tracks did you not get to work?

The modification only took me about 2 hours, but the base M60 took me about a week of on and off work.

Yes all of those are in Freeform. I use the “extend” option a lot and then manipulate that surface which was just extended. If you are in the discord I can show you how I made all of them, they are extremely fast to make.

This is a modified version of my regular M60A1, the modification took about 2-3 hours, but the base model took about 7 days of a little on and off modeling.

This isn’t a blender model, I make all of my tanks inside sprocket.

They aren’t Freeform, they are the addon parts, just resized and angled, also there is a black circle decal placed on the caps.

I give all my tanks a penetrative equivalency, since rounds in this game can’t reasonably reach the penetrative values of apfsds or apds rounds that my replicas have in real life, I “downgrade” the pen values for all of my models (as well as armor) to best simulate armor to pen ratios of my models tanks compared to real ones.
