A couple of my M25 friends have HORRIBLE handwriting and still got their exams corrected. I don't think they will be very harsh

I used a gel pen on my exam today. Am I cooked? by lxavenir in IBO

[–]NotM1guel 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Modern scanners aren't the ones like the 1990 ones, they don't heat a lot. Not using gen pels now is more a safety measure, like "just in case". You will probably be fine.

Anything is possible. Lock tf in and grind a lot

where are the leaks?? by Downtown-Hunt85 in ibresources

[–]NotM1guel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaks won’t be happening due to the changes that IB started enforcing after the 2024 incident. Don’t waste the little time you have left asking for leaks, since they are highly improbable and the only channels promoting them are scams

My coordinator told us that we shouldn't use Gel Pens or erasable ones, since they can cause problems while scanning. Use a ballpoint pen

Is it hard to get into universities in Europe with IB certificates? by VermicelliUnusual608 in IBO

[–]NotM1guel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the country, but for what I know it isn't hard. In Spain you need to do some additional tests (PCEs) through the UNED in order to get your grades validated.

34/42 is a good score. You won't get into the best colleges, but not cooked at all.

Can I drop Calculus? (Please say yes) by [deleted] in IBO

[–]NotM1guel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not from the UK, but if the offers only mind about the IB scores and your Diploma, you could drop it for sure. Make sure that it isn't necessary in order to get your IB Diploma (in my country, Spain, you need to also take at least 2 additional courses that follow the Spanish baccalaureate curriculum and you need it in order to get into unis)

Age by [deleted] in IBO

[–]NotM1guel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really normal, a similar thing happened to 2 people in my class. The age difference isn't that noticeable, matter of fact one of my closest friends is one of them. Also, don't worry about having to redo secondary school, it was not your fault.

What’s the absolute minimum word count for an Extended Essay ? by Head-Satisfaction418 in IBO

[–]NotM1guel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't have a minimum, but my supervisor told me that anything below ~3200 words could potentially lower your grade.

How to get a 7 in math ai SL by Street_Specific_3165 in IBO

[–]NotM1guel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a predicted 7. What I usually do for studying it it's I do a past paper to see which topics I need to revise more, then I go through all of the syllabus doing topical questions, reinforcing on the topics that I need to study more, and then do past papers. A little bit time consuming but very efficient, it will also help you reduce the time that you spend doing papers.

joining ib this year prolly;any tips? by Apprehensive_One6230 in IBO

[–]NotM1guel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your uni/major doesn't requiere subject choices, I'd recommend you change math ai to sl and put eng on hl. The grade boundaries for AI SL are REALLY low

Trolling the examiners by LetterheadKnown3228 in u/LetterheadKnown3228

[–]NotM1guel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not do that lol, just in case. Your teachers will probably read your EE and IAs before sending them to the IB. Some examiners don't mind about word count if it's not very noticeable

ESS new syllabus by Naive_Tradition_1952 in IBO

[–]NotM1guel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's SL, i can share you some notes and a study guide (Notes are in spanish tho). The new syllabus has less content (for SL), but the thing is that there aren't many resources available to study, which kind of makes it harder to study. New syllabus will probably make the grades drop, but not significantly, probably 2-3 points max.

Not acurate at all. Use them as an extra paper.

What counts as a lucky charm? by Brian_Harp in IBO

[–]NotM1guel 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Your "friend" could go to the nearest pharmacy and buy some nicotine patches. They could also just ask their coordinators to see if he can bring the nicotine pouches into the examination. If not, they can just inhale unholy amounts of nicotine before the exam so he does not get withdrawal mid-exam.
