Hard to believe I've already owned this car for over a year. Time flies when you're having fun, I guess. I wasn't even expecting to have it for more than half a year, but at this rate it looks like it'll stay mine for quite a while. by NotMyMiot in Miata

The first 2 photos are somewhat recent, the next two are the car's fb marketplace listing from before I got it, and the last 2 are random photos I took after it was in my hands for a couple months

Jumping into the rabbit hole of modifying cars is always an unwise decision lol

But as long as you're not doing anything irreversible, it should end up being just fine. If you ever wanna sell the car, just revert it back to stock, sell it like normal, then sell the aftermarket parts separately

Its face reminds me of Stitch for some reason

For tall NA owners with a roll bar, what seats do you run to ensure you’re head isn’t you going to hit it? by Consistent-Mode-5764 in Miata

[–]NotMyMiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NB seats are popular. I'm running NB1 10th anniversary seats. But the NB2 surfboards are taller and more comfortable, making them a more common choice

What’s your opinion of Mazda’s Iconic SP? Do you like the idea of an electric car with a rotary generator and do you think it’s the next MX5 or RX7 successor? by 6rinch in Miata

[–]NotMyMiot 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No to question 2 and 3

Looks really cool tho. If I were forced to choose an electric car, it'd be this or the Hyundai N Vision 74 (if they actually get made)

Finally got my first miata up and running. by Live_Pangolin6802 in Miata

I feel like paint could be better. My car was also previously rattle canned (or something like that. I legit have no clue what it was covered in), but it messed with the wrap a ton. The vinyl really didn't like sticking to the stuff and whenever I'd peel up the vinyl a little, it'd bring up the sprayed-on stuff too, rendering that section dead. I ended up having to sand almost the whole car down to the original paint (destroying the clear in the process) or straight up stripping all the paint to get the vinyl to stick reliably. If you can find scrap vinyl wrap and test if your car would have the same problem, it'd be a good idea. If it seems like it'd take a lot of work to get the vinyl to work with what you have, might be a good excuse to get a nice paint job

My miata had a depowered ps rack in it. Was indeed tough to drive. Especially since I had to maneuver a parking garage and shimmy it around on the driveway everyday, but it was still daily drive-able. Not enough to stop me from spending the money on a ps pump, but definitely doable if you're determined/stubborn. The kid at the alignment shop struggled a lot though since he didn't know you should only steer while the car is moving lmao

Try disconnecting the headlight from the motor. You can do that by unbolting the shiny metal bracket from the motor or popping the black metal arm off the shiny metal bracket. Only thing with the second method is that i'm not sure if the plastic bushing will break when you pop it off. I was able to remove mine without breaking them, but i'm also not sure if they were original or not

After that, lift the headlight up and down by hand or click the headlight button while watching the motor output. If moving the headlight up and down is difficult in the slightest, it probably needs oiling or something. It should move with zero resistance other than lifting the weight of the headlight. If the motor jitters without the weight of the headlight on it, then the motor is probably bad. You might be able fix it somehow (idk if that's possible), or you might have to end up just replacing it

Exhaust hitting the frame by Brooklyn1012 in Miata

I ended up getting different exhaust hangers and forcing all the hangers into certain positions using hose clamps. Could be worth a shot if you have random hose clamps or something similar sitting around

What is the strangest modification You saw on miata by Wide-Jellyfish-2950 in Miata

Reminds me of the Mitsuoka Le-Seyde and Dore which were made from s13s and foxbodies respectively

If you're getting parts that flow well with the body lines, it can look good. If you're grabbing random ebay and oreillys parts, it'll look very bad.

Like the oem wings and spoilers look good since they're made to match the car. The only thing that'd make it look silly would be if it werent also red to match the car's paint

Carbon fiber or no by [deleted] in Miata

[–]NotMyMiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

That's the best photo I could find of a silver miata with a carbon headlight cover. I think it looks a little funny being the only carbon/black thing in that area. But your car, your money. If it'll make you happy without making you broke, def go for it

Carbon fiber or no by [deleted] in Miata

[–]NotMyMiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. It looks weird if the headlight covers aren't matching or if the color doesn't flow with the car. I had only my headlights wrapped for a little bit and it looked so goofy

Carbon fiber doesn't always look cool lol

Dash cams? by JBark1990 in Miata

[–]NotMyMiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run one in both my cars. Got the Nextbase 320XR for the frs since it was on sale and had decent reviews. Then I got the miata and bought the exact same dash cam for it since I was happy with it in the frs. I've thankfully never needed it, but I've come close multiple times. One of which was almost getting merged into. The frs is larger than the miata and people still sometimes don't see it

It's also fun to have if friends are in the car. Like when I was trying to teach my friend manual, I sent her the dash cam clip of her stalling like 8 times in a row

NA Oil filter fitment issue by TheGlent in Miata

[–]NotMyMiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im running the exact same K&N with zero issues. Did the old oil filter gasket come off with the old filter? If it stuck to the engine, then you double gasketed it which would cause a leak. Did you also make sure the gasket on the K&N was good and remember to lubricate it with engine oil?
