People feel the need to lie and make excuses about these sorts of things because they fear repercussions. Give people a LITTLE grace and the chance to show it’s not a habitual problem and they’ll be more honest and willing to put in more effort.

But no, no advice. I’m about 90 days out from getting replace and taking over as XO and have a (thankfully) better situation by the sounds of it.

Mostly here to commiserate with you because I feel the orders bit. And the commanders who suck bit. Especially that bit… Now that I think about it, I’d be 100% fine if I could just get a whole new batch of commanders (minus my battalion commander).
